Belum caves, amazing caverns

Dear all
I would like to share with you the road trip to "Belum caverns & Ahobilam near Nandyal in AP.
Three guys desparate to get away from the rat race ( no concrete jungle for us )
Maverick, our jeep on steroids
coleman, insulated box ???

Even I have heard a lot about these caves. The only issue I found is that one needs to stay at Anantpur or near by places only and drive almost 70Km to reach this place. One cant just go there have a look and come back.

Any more info in this regard would be extremely helpful.

hi all
it was getting hotter and we were itching to get out of town, worse than a gang that robbed a bank ! It gets that way every couple of months when I have to leave behind everything and head out for 2-3 days to recharge. My psychiatrist friend tells me its part fo me that refused to grow up - am sure a lot of us on the forum feel that way; or my "karma" wouldnt have brought me here ! We started looking for likely places that afforded a good drive and picked our destination
-Ahobilam, narasimhaswamy temple
- Bilum caves

Booked the tourist accomodation in Ahobilam
Tip: the place is owned by government, expect
- booking only on advance cash payment
- poor maintenence
- unfriendly service
Distances :
270km from Bangalore
320 from Hyderabad
420 from Chennai
60 from Nandyal, ref point on map
this done "we" packed and set out to the Nallamalla forest
