I'll let the pictures do the talking...

WoW!! wonderful VTEC rocks,
Amazing capture of the rain and fog soaked landscape. The roads and the twists looks very inviting. Post more of it please.
How far is this place from Bangalore?which route?

Nice very nice! Great snaps. Come back for more!
Clouds, estates, animals .... a perfect amalgamation for a holiday!

Thanks Ampere. It's a great place. I've already been there thrice. It's become a a favorite weekend getaway.

Excellent Photographs mate. just brilliant. The place looks absolutely surreal.

Hi, excellent pics. could you throw more light on the actual resort experiences like food & tariff, distance from BLR, nearby places one must visit etc.

Enjoyed the photos. Great place. thanks. Would love to know more about the place itself. Tariff, food and ambiance please.

Thanks for the info.
Is there a option to stay or do you advise a day trip from ooty or coonoor?
Again amazing bunch of photos, liked pics 7813/14/76 a lot. And 00855 is amazing too, how did you get such a closeup :)
Thanks for sharing.

I had almost made a detour from Valparai towards this place a couple of weeks back when on vacation, then decided to do this separately. Thanks for sharing, may be once the summer crowd comes down at Ooty / Coonoor would do this. Lovely pictures. Keep them coming.

I was in there in Ooty/Conoor whole of last week myself! This place looks all the better. A few more specifics? Where do you turn at Kalahatty if you are coming from Masinagudi?

EDIT: Sorry forget my post. I read Kaikatty as Kalahatty!

VTEC_Rocks - Excellent snaps, loved the your swift's alloy... Its that lenso samurai ?

Here are more details:

Stay:
This is a tea estate bunglow that has been converted to a home stay.
There are 3 types of cottages that you can rent.

1. Mango Tree cottage.
2. Palaniappa Bunglow.
3. Bison Valley Cottage.

I prefer Palaniappa Bunglow, as it is value for money & it has an excellent view. The Mango tree cottage is on the higher budget side.

Place:
The whole place is away from the city and there is no pollution what so ever. The wilderness is so alive. You could see a lot of Bisons around and if you are lucky you could spot elephants & bears. There are not many places that you can see around, its like a cool place that you can just chill & take it slow. The estate manager would take you on a estate tour. If the weather is good & dry, you will be taken on an offroading tour in the estate jeep.

The place is kept unspoilt.

My honest advice, whenever you go there please don't do the following as it would spoil the virgin nature:

1. Don't smoke.
2. Don't play loud music.
3. Don't create a ruckus after boozing.
4. Don't throw waste / plastic anywhere.

Tariff & booking:
Tariff

Food:
The food is home made & excellent. No non veg food as it is in the fringe of a wild life santuary.

Breakfast: Hot Idlis with curry & chutney.
Lunch: Chapathi, dosa or you could ask for Vegetable Bath.
Dinner: Chapathi, Rice, sambar.

Coffee / tea is served whenever you wish.

Route:

Bangalore - Mysore- Bandipur - Ooty - Coonoor. From Coonoor, you'll have to on the road towards Metupalyam, you'll reach a junction, take a right. Keep going straight on that road.

Ask for Kolakambe. Refer to the place as Palaniappa Tea estate as the locals are not familiar with "Devashola".

Ask locals for the route, instead of calling the estate during the journey. This would save a lot of time & lesser confusion.

Its better to go by own transportation. Please make sure you fill fuel in ooty / coonoor. There are no gas stations near Palaniappa Bunglow.

You'll have to book the place a week in advance, so that there is availability. You don't have to pay anything in advance. just a phone call or a mail would book the room.

Have a great time !!!
