Hi Lalu,

How could have I missed this thread? Sorry for a very very late reply.I was searching for an old travelogue using my handle as keyword and landed on this since you mentioned in the first post.

So you gave your Civvy a fresh breath. Nice snaps again like any of your travelogues. Shocked to see you plucking oranges from road side trees (insulting your orange tree). Also you look nice in mundu (south indian dhoti) and look perfect Kanjirappally Achayan visiting pondy to fill his bar stock .

BTW have a look on our Rambuttan tree with fruits though not ripe.

Civved : Yercaud

Prelude

The last time we went on a vacation was in November 2010. Since then work and life has taken hectic toll on us. Almost six months of routine. It slowly killed all the energy that we had. Also our beloved doggy Dashy left us after struggling hard with her cancer. We were indeed down with a lot of emotions.

Kids have finished their academic year at school. Securing good grades they eagerly looked forward to the summer vacation. They wanted to break free. Yes, I too desperately wanted the same.

On an impulsive note, we wanted to drive out. I had no plans in place, neither did I have the space to make one. Mind was urging with the need to get a break from the monotony. Let us go. Let us go Yercaud.

We drove to Yercaud for a three day holiday from 02.04.2011 to 04.04.2011.

Yercaud is a very unassuming destination. To feel the beauty of this place one must look for it, you have to reach out. Beauty always lies in the eyes of the beholder.

And thus the first trip for us in 2011 to Yercaud happened.

Re: Civved : Yercaud

Day 01, 02.04.2011
Yercaud

We started at 05:30AM in the morning. The moment we started rolling I could hear a sigh of relief from the family, Yes we are back at what we love most. Driving out. Prior to the last six months, our life kind of evolved around our holidays. And we were getting the days back. The feeling was intense.

We broke our journey at A2B for breakfast by 06:30AM. Since it was early the crowd was not much.
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00053p.jpg

We had a peaceful breakfast and started our journey again by 07:00AM.

We reached the ghat roads to Yercaud by 08:30AM.
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00060p.jpg

We stopped a little ahead after paying the entry toll.
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00063p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc_6393p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc_6395p.jpg

Summer seems to have taken a toll. At the beginning of the ghats the trees were all dry, and gave us a very baren stare.
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00080p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00078p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00076p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00073p.jpg

The greens were missing, but the eager growth of life is seen aloud in the little greens that are left on the trees.
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00071p.jpg

Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc_6397p.jpg

That gave us hope. HOPE is a very serious feeling, without which our lifes would have been so lost. And trust me, HOPE and DREAMS keep us going forward. It had always, and it will indeed be so in future.

We moved on and stopped near a view point.

With eagerness and hope we moved ahead.

From here the Ladies Seat, Gents Seat, Childs Seat and Rose Garden are very near. Drove on to the Child's Seat, giving a skip to Ladies and Gents seat as it was noon, and sun was bright.

Child's Seat is inside the Rose Garden.

I visited Bhavani Singh's and his Tiger Panther Oil is very good, one of the most effective pain balms I have ever used. But there are 2 Bhavani Singhs there, isn't it? Which is th original and the best?

There are many perfumeries there. One example is Shevaroys perfumery.

But I found only one Bhavani singh outlet, this guy has his perfume shop on the roadside and his plant collections behind it. Also his factory can be visited on prior appointment. This time and also in 2008 I visited his place. The other one I have not come across. I tend to believe this guy is the real one

There was a lot of construction activity inside the park. This prevented us from spending more time in the cool shades of the park. We drove back to Yercaud town by 11:30AM

After relaxing for a while, we wanted some tea very badly. Decided to go to the restaurant taking a stroll through the resort.

We did not see a single soul anywhere in the resort. When we reached the restaurant we realised it was the Cricket World Cup final. We are no great Cricket fans, probably the last matches I followed would have been the ones when Kapil, Srinath and Shastry were playing. Nowadays I feel its not just cricket that happens in all the matches.

Looked at the big screen for a while
Civved : Yercaud via Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry-dsc00151p.jpg

After tea, we retired back to our room

By 21:00PM we went to the restaurant for dinner. The entire crowd were in front of the big screen watching the finals.

Found a table and ordered dinner. We too joined the frenzy of watching the finals. People were shouting, praying, screaming - what not. For now, I decided to join in the fun.

The food at Lake Forest Hotel had considerably worsened compared to our previous visit in 2008. The staff also has become very lethargic.
