rkbharat's photolog for Leh 2010

I know it will take some time for me to write a log as I am traveling back to back, but it will be crime to hold the pics, so here are few, I will keep posting

Here is the brief Schedule, I will try to put more details later

Day 1 : Delhi 5:00 AM - Kud 7:00 PM, via Samba/Manesar by pass
Day 2 : Kud 6:00 AM - Srinagar 1:00 Pm, a little stopage at Ramban's new hospital as Nikhil was not feeling well. Very helpful local Doctors
Day 3 : Srinagar 5:30 AM - Kargil 3:00 Pm, lots of time lost at Zozila, little checkup at Pathetic Kargil MASS for Rajat's Dzire
Day 4 : Kargil 7:00 AM - Leh 6:30 Pm, Stoppage at many places
Day 5 : Leh 9:00 Am, Permits by 11:30 Am(delay in photocopies due to power outage), 11:30 left K-La, Heavy Traffic jam at top, back to Leh by 7:00 Pm
Day 6 : Leh 7:00 AM - Pangong 12:30 Pm, Spent around 3 hours there, back to Leh by 8:00, slow down due to heavy snow fall around tangste.
Day 7 : Leh 5:30 Am - Hanle 7:00 Pm, this was one hell of ride, butter smooth roads, even did 120 at some stretch, you will stop at many places.Last 20 Km was hell, lost 1 hour due to bad crash into ditch.broke plastic sheild, bent radiator mounts and bent bumper, all adjusted for just 800 Rs, Maruti rocks.
Day 8 : Hanle 8:00 Am - Leh 3:30 Pm, very less stops, little service at MASS, DRUK, shopping, meet with Ajay Raina and family and other
Day 9 : Leh 5:30 AM, Srinagar 9:30 Pm, Lost 1 hour at Ghumri and 1 hour navigating through Srinagar, they closed lots of roads due to PM visit. Stayed at MTNL GH
Day 10 : Srinagar 6:00 AM - Gurgaon Next day 5:00 AM, non stop 23 Hrs ride, could have covered in 18-19 Hrs, were slowed down badly due to heavy rain from Pathankot right upto Sonipat, were driving at 60-70 for whole stretch, other Safari had check light issue as well for some time, went into limp mode for some time, but then went off after some time

Total KM : 3617
Over all average of car : 13Km/Ltr

Total Fuel Expense : 16000
Total food Expense : 5751
Total Hotel Expense : 12165
Misc : 2300

Brilliant

Hey,

Brilliant Photographs and a Brilliant place. The best part about this place is, that Even when there are so many travelogues to Leh, and each new travelogue has something new to Show up due to the different people who put them up.

OT: What camera was used here? Are the first three photos post processed?

thanks Sudev sir, that is one wonderful bypass and a very scenic road, just a km little bad stretch, but will be nothing for you.

BTW one suggestion, instead of going upto Samba, you can take a right turn at Dayala Chak, around 40 Km after pathankot and you by pass a hell lot of mess, This route meets in the middle of samba-Udhampur road, this right turn is hidden in the mess of shops, and you might feel like going wrong way, but the moment you pass the 50 meter bad part, rest all is smooth

Very nice pics. The D5000(?) is really doing you justice. Your photography levels have improved manifold from the past. Dil maange MORE!!

3140 is the pic of this travelogue, awesome pics there bharat. Leh has always been on my wish-list, hope i will make it there someday.

Man, those are awesome pics......fantastic......my pick: 1. Sitting on the road where the road is straight line, 2. seagull pic, it looks like a 3D image as if the bird is flying straight at me....amazing photography skills.....keep them coming...!!!!

Wonderful photographs! Which camera and lenses do you use? Please do post the pictures of the other car (Safari) also.
