24 hrs in kasauli

I am from Palwal, near delhi. There was two functions I had to attend at Ambala on 24/06/2010 and 27/06/2010 at my in-laws.I was free for 25th and 26th .In the evening of 24th I at once decided to go to kasauli the next morning. After having early breakfast I left to kasauli at 8,with my wife and kids( Avni and Utkarsh).
It was a nice drive till Zirakpur, but after turning for kalka shimla road it was slow going due to work going on on Zirakpur –parwanoo streach. We didn’t much traffic in Pinjore and Kalka due to it was a weekday and was early morning, otherwise it can take lots and lots of time to cross that section, which we came to know the next day on our return journey. We reached to Dharampur around 10.Kids wanted to take a ride in toy train(kalka- shimla).I decided to go to Barog or Solan and return back to Dharampur by next available train. But there is no parking at Dharampur railway station ,they have some place for parking but that is only for the guests stying at there guest house. After some manipulations I parked the car and bought the tickets for the next train which was only 5 minutes away.Best part -tickets for 4 of us rs. 8.When train came ,it was jam packed of tourists. We didn’t board the train and left for kasauli.24 hrs in kasauli-p5120018.jpg

24 hrs in kasauli-p5120022.jpg Reached around 11.30. Saw a board of PWD guest house and asked for the room. Got a room for rs 356 only, for one day.
The room was large, airy, with attached bathroom, change room.Neat and clean bedding. After freshening up we went for kasauli town which is 1 km ahead.there is a barrier,a single entry charge of rs 65 for parking and roaming in the cant area. All parkings in upper and lower mall areas are free of cost. Places Of Interest:
Nature walks : Gilbert trail, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Lover's Lane, Upper & Lower Mall , Church of England, Kasauli Club : Estd. 1880 , Lawrence School, Sanawar : Estd. 1847 - 1.5 kms.Manki Point (Hindu God, Hanuman Temple) - 3.5 kms,Central Research Institute ,Baba Balaknath Temple.
Manki point is in the air force area, entry is restricted, after showing photo id card they issue a pass . Hand bags, cameras, mobile phones etc are not allowed inside. A Hanuman temple, and a helipad is there at Manki point which is half a kilometer accent. It is very hectic but doable.you can see shimla, chandigarh and planes of punjab from that point. It is very soothing inside the temple.
Then we visit bazaar and the upper mall after having lunch at lower mall.

Dear Sir,
Your pictures are fantastic and out of a dream land especially the sunrise/sunset photos. even we have been to Kasauli for a change and i find it a very peaceful and idyllic spot for families looking for peace, even our daughter was this much old when we visited, Not too sure if many grown up kids will like this laid back town which is not a typical tourist spot like simla, manali which are too congested and commercial.

Nice that you enjoyed the trip. Did you take the shorter Kasauli Parwanoo route on your way back?

Hi friends, this is part 2 of my post.Sorry for the typing errors and grammatical mistakes I have made in the previous post.I think it will improve with time.
The images are from sunset point(upper mall) and from sunrise point (air force station road). It was cloudy, misty and windy there.A respite from Delhi heat.

We spend the evening roaming at the upper mall area and the sun set point. There are some jhoolas for children and for there moms as well.Although it was cloudy but luckily it all cleared at around 7 pm.watched sun set beyond the distant mountains.Camera slashing low battery, won't beable to capture the complete experience.
Couple of advises for sun set point :1) carry extra batteries because there are no shops nearby. 2) carry some warm clothes as well because it can be very cold at times, you can't trust weather.

Himanchal is Just beautiful. I have so many life long memories as I was there on my honeymoon. I traveled from shimla to kalka in this same train and trust me it is one of the most scenic train routes in India.
