Where the Heck is Mori ?

....well thats what everyone asked when i told my colleagues about rafting in Mori. Guys in office had been slogging out for a couple of weeks and everyone looked juiced totally....i had been planning to take my wife for her first camping and rafting trip.

Rafting on the ganges during june was a serious no no....so i called up folks at MHE and got to know that they were just setting up their camp in mori.

It took some cajoling to to get the guys in for the trip....a short trip over the weekend and since my hometown is dehradun decided on staying a day there too...

D-Day : Thursday 6pm (still stuck in office) scheduled departure time 10:30pm

...some hours pass by

Location : still in office .....are we going ?

finally we manage to reach home by 11pm...too late to order food...so poor wifey needs to cook for all friends.....which means more precious hours lost

Finally we leave for dehradun at 1:30am

Destination :
MHE Tons River Camp

Location :
Delhi - Dehradun - Mussoorie (271 kms.) Kempty Falls - Yamuna Bridge – Nainbagh (41 kms) - Nowgaon (42 kms) - Purola (19 kms) - Mori (34 kms) – MHE Tons River Camp (2 kms).

The journey begins

just before the shivaliks

we reached home at 6:30am
took a shower, had breakfast and picked up

Such a lovely log but not concluded.

You must take it forward and conclude it.

The Place looks lovely. It will be great if you can share the information about the place, facilities, camp owners, how to book etc.

Looking forward to loads of information and pictures.

Very beautiful pictures & one of the kind & very few of them like this in TBhp; can't forget them so easily. What's the gear used? Amazing quality & you should be a pro. I see a Alwarpet registration Storm, I hope you've moved to Noida & did not drive all way from Chennai right? Keep them coming, pics are mind blowing quality.

Hey AB,

This looks really interesting. The title got me going, I initially thought was that you were talking about Barbara Mori, the Kites heroine.

Great pics. Frankly I never heard about the place. I am sure the experience would have been wonderful.

1. The beach chairs dont look comfortable. Too much gap between the planks.

2. Which DSLR were you using?

3. Nice to see a kerosene lantern, bikaner bhujia, tea cups and friends in a tent! I am sure it must have been amazing.

BTW, pics in the last post have not uploaded.

ready for action
Where the Heck is Mori ?-camp06-68.jpg

i have been rafting for some years now, this
was my first experience at tons, it was an adrenaline
rush, the water is extremely cold, the river flows fast,
the rapids are very technical and it was the first time
that we had to actually rescue twice during the same run.

these pictures were clicked using an aquapac, i used
it for the first time, better pics next time.
