| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar Slowly got up and walked around the Bungalow trying to take the beauty of the place in. Took some pictures of the Bungalow on the Beach. This place really gave me some real nice subjects to try my photographic experiments. The Pergola near the pool          |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar The Garden Our two rooms were on the Ground floor and were of type Garden view / partial Sea view.     By now Jr. PPG woke up and wanted to go in search of Sr. PPG, who had gone out with Star and Jr. Star to the beach. So along with Jr. PPG, I took a stroll outside the Bungalow in search of Star and the other Angels. The pictures from the morning walk coming up soon. |

| Hi Lalu, Your pictures of the Bunglow, Garden as well as the illusrations have come so nice, i do not dare put up my pictures of them. Still i will share some of the pictures, which i am not shy showing. We returned from the beach as kids wanted to be in the pool, we met Lalu and Jr PPG on our way back at the gate. Soon the plan got changed for Lalu as Jr PPG decided to join other two girls in the pool under my supervision, I continue to shoot pictures while my friend parks himself on a chair. Kids in the pool  View of the Garden  View of the sea  Wall in the sea  Pool view from the garden  Staff Quarters  Kids continue to play  where as the spirited person has dozed off  I decide to go to the first floor... View of the temple and the pool from first floor  Sea View from first floor  View of the jetty from the first floor  This sea view costs RS 1700 more per day per room  First floor Varandah  Kids still in the pool  View of the Bunglow  Some flowers  At last one of the kid is out of the pool  Soon everyone got out and it was time to freshen up / take bath / get ready for the breakfast, and then go to the fort at 10:00 AM. |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar Around 07:30AM I got out of the resort with Jr. PPG for a stroll through the narrow lanes of Tranquebar. Tranquebar was a Danish post established in 1620. The sea front facing Danesborg Fort, a small roadway, and an impressive 1972 gateway, and the choir singing for the Sunday service in the 1718 church still lingers somewhere in my mind. I got out for the stroll through the South Entrance of the Bungalow facing the Fort.   My first direction was towards the Masillamani Nathar Temple. Masillamani Nathar Temple This is the oldest monument to survive in Tranquebar. This was built in 1305AD. The temple had three mandapas, of which two has been completely swallowed by sea. What is remaining is the innermost mandapam, in a very precarious condition.               |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar I continued further north of the temple through a small road. The actual road, Salangaikara street was swallowed by the sea during the recent tsunami. The route which I took is a small pathway alongside the rocks (rubble mount seawall) kept for preventing the sea from eating away the land. The place was picture postcard perfect. The houses and gardens looked almost as if in pictures. See for yourself.                        After a while I reached a place which was buzzing with activity. The Fishing boats were coming in and the days catch was collected and sold. A little further there seemed to be a fish market.    I stopped the stroll in that direction here and continued south towards the Fort and Bungalow. |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar I reached the south entrance of the Bungalow by 08:00AM. Jr. PPG found the other angels and decided to join them for the pool session, and I continued onwards still south. Immediately I found the Ziegenbalg Monument. Ziegenbalg Monument The German born Bartholomeus Ziegenbalg arrived at Tranquebar on 1706 following the orders of King Frederick IV of Denmark to tender religious and social service in India. With the permission of the Danish rulers he built the New Jerusalem Church at Tranquebar during 1718. He had a special affinity to tamil language and showed interest in developing it. He has also translated a tamil book "Ulaga Needhi" (Universal Justice) to German. Now this monument is in shambles and is being rebuilt.   |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar I moved still south and came to the Dansborg Fort. Dansborg Fort Around 1620AD, Roland Crappe, A danish Navy Captain in the name of teh Danish King bought Tranquebar, and the sorrounding area from the Tanjore King. The Danes then built the majestic Dansborg Fort, whcihc has the unique distinction of having attracted the sea voyagers pasing through East coast to Tranquebar. The Fort was still closed and hence decided to do some photographiy from outside the fort. | 01.08.2010 Tranquebar Still walked south to reach a river joining the sea. The river is Uppanar river. Uppanar river           On returning back from the River, a fishing boat came with the catch to the shore Fishing Boat with Catch      More fishing boats at the shore       |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar I walked towards the sea and the Jetty where we spend the last night photographing the fort. I saw "Paw" marks. Man's loyal companion, but he was nowhere to be seen  May be one day some life form will go in search of "leg" marks  and might wonder what these marks are ?!  Sat for a while at the Jetty for some breeze, but it was already becoming hot.  So moved on to the Western main street, the King's Street.         The Gateway of Tranquebar This majestic arch was constructed during Danish rule in 1792. The giant doors are made of teak. The arch is now under the control of Archeological Survey of india.     Tharangambadi - Land of singing waves welcomes you  Tharangambadi asks you to visit again - surely will visit again!  After checking out the arch I started back to the resort, and walked through the King's street again. |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar Gate House  Few other houses, in different architecture    Maritime Museum, Danish Governors Bungalow, built in 1785  New Jerusalem Church, built in 1718. This church holds the grave of Ziegenbalg.    TELC Teachers training Institute  Zion Church, which was built in 1701.     Ziegenbalg Monument     Some ruins  Post office, built on 1884  Hotel Tamilnadu   I love this idea, I want to make it on my terrace   Directions to the Bungalow  Finally Bungalow on the Beach  |

| 01.08.2010 Tranquebar Finally around 09:15AM I was back to the Bungalow.  The cool Garden welcomed me back from by morning stroll  It was nice and green  Honda Siblings resting happily   Civvy in various poses    I reached the room, took a nice cool shower and was ready for break fast. It was an english spread with bread, eggs, cornfalkes, fruits and the like. Sat very next to the counter and hogged on to the food. Drank innumerous cups of tea, and made more energy for the day ahead. By 10:00AM we all finished with our breakfast and got ready to go to Dansborg Fort. Our visit to the Fort coming up next. |
