Re: The Road My Home Forever...

Roadinc, that was a very moving post. Glad you could follow your instinct with success. 7 years is a very long time. To be on the move for so long and yet wanting to keep on moving, man you must have born with wheels under your feet!

Living like you is an impossibility for men like me. We are far too attached and attracted to the pleasures of life.

Kuvempu, a poet laureate of Kannada, wrote:

Elliyoo nilladiru (Never stop)
Maneyanendu kattadiru (Never build an abode)
Koneyanendu muttadiru (Never reach the end)
O anantavagiru (Always aim for infinity)

O nanna chethana, aagu nee anikethana (O dear soul, strive to be free of all bondage)

Forgive the bad translation, but I hope you will get the drift. Like Oliver Goldsmith, he too talked of the concept of the Citizen of the World/Vishva Manava Tatva.

I can say with full confidence that both Goldsmith and Kuvempu would have been proud of you.

Its good that you have found a kindred soul who would be with you through thick and thin. May your journey always be interesting.

OT: Purely out of selfish reasons of being a Bhpian, I would love to read about your LC ownership, at least in brief. .

An article in today's Hindu (Bangalore Edition) talks about The Batti Project, Merwyn and his team.

Hey Merwyn, nice to know you are still going at it. I would like to participate in the batti project. From Pune. Do let me know if I could get in touch with your partner from Bangalore. We have a lot of heads here in Pune, who can also work things out. Cheers and best wishes as always

Re: The Road My Home Forever...

Myself and bhpian selfdrive had the opportunity and privilege to meet Merwyn (bhpian Roadinc) for a couple of days and understand more about his project.

Honestly, a couple of meetings is too less a time to know the wonderful journey of this selfless gentleman.

Merwyn is currently in Pune and will be leaving for Goa in a day's time. He drove down from Arunachal in his Toyota Land Cruiser Series 60 (an extension of his home) alongwith his pet doggie named Bouncer (a backpacker Pitbull ).

A couple of bhpians from Pune are evaluating options to conduct an E-Waste generation drive in Pune to help Merwyn light up the villages in remote Arunachal Pradesh. We are still in the basic planning stage and there is a long way to go. But we would need volunteers who can help us, we would need more sustainable ideas and most importantly we need to spread the awareness to bring more people on-board.

If anybody is interested, please PM me so that we can take it forward appropriately.

Re: The Road My Home Forever...

Came across a TED talk similar to your story,

But yours and your Batti project is whole different level, hats off. Wish someday we will hear you speaking your experience in stages like TED.
