What's the reason for tension at the border? I'll be starting off from Tinsukia.

PS: Just uploading the pics of my 2005 ride on Flickr. Will share soon.

Thanks for sharing the photo link, enjoying each of them this very moment. Wish to see your videos as well. If you touch Guwahati do drop by.

When exectly are you planning the trip, the Arunachal border in Upper Assam is a no go area right now as Arunachalis are burning down Assam properties in border areas, specially Charaipung in Sibsagar district.

Glad you are enjoying the photos, have many more from the second ride which was from Pasighat to Dong (crossing the Sirsi and Dibang rivers). Will upload them shortly too. You can see the trailer of the documentary at Dirt Track Productions - One Crazy Ride

Planning to start from Tinsukia on October 3. Can't figure out exactly where Charaipung is on the map, but will check it out. I may have to return to Assam to enter Nagaland, but not yet sure about the final route.

Will surely catch up if I happen to come to Guwahati.

Bye bye Arunachal

So after visiting the World War two grave site, it was time to hit the road straight to Dibrugarh airport.

My plan was to get the tickest in Tinsukia on way, but there i found out that the days flight had already left.

So a night halt coming up at Dibrugarh.

Pictures of Jairampur gate where a new bridge is being constructed.
Then Ledo train station
And the stage is for the annual Dehing Patkai festival.

Re: Guwahati to Burma: Stillwell Road - Pangsau Pass

Have found a new travelogue online and putting the link below for the benifit of future travellers to the region.

Up memory lane - Prado Travelogue - Travelogues : Overdrive

The write up says that the road conditions are still bad and one strictly is allowed to cross over to Burma side on 15th and 30th of each month only.

Its written by Martin Alva for a Toyota sponsored trip.

Re: Guwahati to Burma: Stillwell Road - Pangsau Pass

This travelogue is surely an article for someone who has been thinking about going along the Stillwell for the last 2 years. The information out here is precious. Thanks a lot and definitely the maximum stars.

Hopefully should be trying to go over there within this year, including a trek through Namdapha. Will be in touch with you during the planning stages.
