Photologue: Pristine Munnar

A couple of days in Munnar was a welcome break. The more I went around the place, the more I loved it. Such is its magical charm.

It all started off with this:

Varun: Hey there is a strike in the college so we have 3 day holidays !!
Me: Any plans?
Sushant: Kodaikanal ???
Me: Nah. Been there 6 times. Not again !!
Shubral: Why not Kovalam?
Me: Went there just last year.
Rick: I'm going to pack my bags. Wherever you go, I have no issues
Me: Lets head to Munnar.
Sushant: What is that? I don't want a beach holiday.
Varun: Stupid its a hill station.
Sushant: Near Ooty?
Me: Shut up Sushi. Just pack your bags guys. We are game for Munnar.
Everyone: Yippiie..lets go !!

And within the next 5 hours, we were greeted by these views.

Nice ones. Where are those lakes? Are they on the way?
Did you go from Madurai to Munnar (as I make out from you current location)?

Yes those lakes were on the way from Madurai to Munnar. More pics will follow soon.

That lakes comes on the way when you are heading from Theni - Bodinayakanur - Devikulam road. Surprised that still the lake/dam is not full yet.

This was our first trip to Munnar. Thanks to the various threads in Team-BHP and the great description of the place, I wasn't hesitated to go there. But my friends were a bit as they didn't heard of Munnar and secondly they do not know about Team-BHP.

On reaching there, we hired a Mahindra Jeep for the local sight-seeing. The first place where we went was Matupetty Dam. The place was really picturesque and calm.

Well here are some snaps taken around Matupetty Dam.

Then we went to the Valley view point. It was covered in mist and took some time before the mist cleared up.

More pics of Rajamalai and the Eravikulam National Park, which is a home to the Nilgiri Tahrs. Spotting Tahrs is quite easy though.

More pics of Rajamalai and the Eravikulam National Park, which is a home to the Nilgiri Tahrs. Spotting Tahrs is quite easy though.
