Hi Everyone

Just came back from Sangla last night and it seems that I am having a problem adjusting to the realty which is called Delhi. Was walking through meadows, driving through the most gorgeous countryside, was loving getting stuck in a traffic jam that consisted of only goats. And here I am, crawling on the city roads, inhaling all this smoke. Anyways without any further, let me share my experience with you through these pictures.
Here's the teaser -

Hey dallbir, I can totally empathize with you about returning back to the city grind after a longish trip to the mountains. The teaser's awesome! Please get the ball rolling ASAP. :D

We started from Gurgaon at around 8:30 pm. The plan was to reach Panchkula and take a night halt and start for Sangla in the morning. We took our first break at Karnal.Back to Sangla-0.jpg
We reached Panchkula at around 2:30am and decided to push it to Shimla before we take a break. It started raining and soon it became very foggy. We made it to Shimla by 5:30, completely exhausted. We figured that there was no point checking in to a hotel for 2-3 hours, so we parked our jeep on the roadside and went off to sleep.Back to Sangla-1.jpg

Woke up around 8:30, took Shimla - Naldehra - Basantpur - Kingel state highway as Shimla - Narkanda road was in despair.

There was a nice waterfall enroute, thats the magic of monsoon.Back to Sangla-5.jpg

The teaser pic is really nice.

What were the road conditions of the road you took?

The bolero is looking awesome wearing the alloys.
And inturn complementing the ambiance too:D

The Shimla - Naldehra - Basantpur - Kingel route, that looks indeed a road least travelled. Looks great. Do you turn off at Dhali, after crossing Shimla?

How many extra kms on this route to Kingal, instead of travelling via Narkhanda?

Is the NH22 via Narkahnda in such a bad shape as to make it difficult to drive on?

Did you use the Shimla bypass from Taradevi to Dhali? I heard that it was in a very bad shape.

Road from Shimla to Narkanda is very bad, travel time has tripled now with apple traffic and potholes. There is no doubt that Shimla - Narkanda is the best route, but given the situation, Naldehra - Basantpur- Kingel route is recommended, distance increases by 40kms, but smooth drive. Beyond Rampur, roads are in poor shape, rock dust turns into sludge after rain that sticks to your vehicle like cement.

We took left from Dhalli towards Naldehra. This route increased the distance by 40kms but roads were quite good, as its a sparingly used road. We took Shimla-Narkanda route on our way back, trust me bad is an understatement. You are right, Shimla bypass is also not that great.

Hi Kumar, these photos are from Sangla to Chitkul route. We wandered off from the main roads and explored the valley little bit, places like batseri and rakcham. Back to Sangla-90.jpg

Dallbir,

Those are nice shots of the entire tour.

Panoramas have come out good too especially the bridge in you opening post.

Not many may realize that numerous times the photographer went out of his way to get the whole scene in one frame, to get the road in it or the Bolero, shooting from far or climbing up higher to get a better shot. Good photographs don't just happen.
Regards,

Good teaser !!! waterfall pic is grt and so are the panoramas

Amazing snaps of the place! Why did that wire have to be there on snap#80a.
It was such a paradise!

Very nice route, and so is the beast running on it.
