Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Rajababues will be in Goa!!!

My question is simple:

What should Rajababues do in Goa for two days and three nights?

Please suggest must do, party locations, cruise option if any, any other activities worth for the group.

The group is as large as Malaysia trip,
stay will be at calangut,
leaving 12mati tomorrow and will be back on 17th night.

The road till Belgaum is class and beyond till Panjim is generally in good condition with hardly any traffic. It is a pleasure to drive on this strectch.

Take a look at these images of Amboli

You will see this water falls on the road itself.

Drove down this route last week. The route is open now and conditions are pretty OK.

What I didn't take into account was the fact that we returned on a Sunday. And the whole world had congregated in the ghat to watch/bathe/drink and make merry on the waterfalls.

It took us 3 agonizing hours to cross the stretch.

If you are planning driving on this route, please ensure that it is not a Sunday/ Holiday or not the peak time at least ( read 1100 to 1800 hours).

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Excellent thread! The first post is really useful. Thanks @JLN.
I am planning a trip with my wife and kid (it would be my first time and my wife's second time in Goa) sometime between 22 Oct and 28 Oct.
Based on recommendations from my friends and from the original post, I would be probably staying somewhere near Colva in South Goa for 3-4 days. My basic requirement is to be away from the crowd which we are expecting to throng to Goa due to weekend. Maybe a day in North Goa with some water sports is probably needed in between.
How is the weather during end of October? And what about mosquitoes?
If mosquitoes are not there, then we probably do not need an AC room.
My budget is around 1000-1500 max per day for the room.
Also, please suggest good places where we can find vegetarian food in South Goa.
How is the route between South and North? Is it very narrow by any chance for four wheeler traffic?

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Bumping an old thread. I have two specific queries guys. Planning to spend my honeymoon in south Goa for 5 days, starting first week of November. Would be much obliged if someone can answer these:

1) Kindly suggest me some nice resorts on South Goa, tarrif not being a limiting factor since I had intended to splurge on the vacation itself rather than going abroad.

2) Also, I am planning to hire a 4 wheeler rather than a 2 wheeler. Any pointers to rent expected, contact person would be much appreciated.

Taj Exotica
Leela Beach Resort
Grand Hyatt
Radisson Blu
Kenilworth Beach Resort
Zuri White Sands

All of these are right on the beach in south goa. Take your pick.

May I suggest The Retreat by Zuri, Salcette Goa (if you arent looking for 5 stars). I have stayed at this property and found it to be VFM. Best thing is that this place is 10 mins walk away from Varca beach, which is an almost secluded beach. My review of the same - http://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserReviews-g297606-d1519053-r98577728-The_RETREAT_by_Zuri-Salcette_Goa.html

They have another property- The Zuri White Sands, which has a prvitae beach and casino. Other options you may try are Majorda, Orchid.

2) Also, I am planning to hire a 4 wheeler rather than a 2 wheeler. Any pointers to rent expected, contact person would be much appreciated.

Good choice. Since I wasn't very confident of my two-wheeler skills, I too hired a Indica diesel multijet from someone available on +91 98902 26897. See if this number still works. The name of the guy was Tabeeb/Tabrez (I am not sure). Car was about 30k driven, was fairly new looking and fun to drive.
Disclaimer: I have no commercial linkage to the person/number provided above. Please use your discretion while dealing with him.

Mods, Please remove if inapt.

Last time we were in Goa we rented an innova for a day from Joeys car rental. Their shop is located right next to the Mandovi river in Panaji. Here is a link to their website.

Colva itself has a number of watersports and there is dolphin spotting excursions as well as rides to islands also from Colva. We loved being there for 6 days.

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

hello,
1. For staying options i would recommend the following, its a decent clean and just next to the beach with a self enclosed lawn also. Its called Nani's & Rani's @Baga beach(08322276313/09226387931)
2. A great place to eat authentic sea food is Sheela Restaurant and bar near to Sancoale (9049158277).Its a family driven place ,worth a visit.
3. For a relaxing beach experience please visit Morjim beach in Pernem taluka. Do make it a point to go early so that one can avail the bed and shack facility offered on the beach. It is well away from the normal tourist crowds.

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Can regulars suggest some good places to stay at for a 3N/4D trip to Goa in the first week of December?

Budget: 3500-5000/night

There are 8 of us (all guys) and we'd prefer staying close to the beach with proximity to good non-veg restaurants.

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

hiii ..
why dont you guys check out Nani's & Rani's @Baga.It is clean , quiet and costs around 1800 for an ac room . I think you might just like it but it has to be booked in advance for it is popular with the foreigners

Re: Goa Vacation for First Timers

Me (married but well behaved bachelor for the trip ) and two of my friends(red blooded bachelors with wild thoughts of goa) will be landing up in Goa on 2nd October.
Generally, I hate pre-booking hotels as you never know what you might get plus you lose the flexibility of staying wherever you feel like.
So, my questions

1. If we simply land up in Calangute and check out the hotels we like, can we get a better rate than published online ?
