Hey Buddy, I am from the Konkan belt, Malvan to be precise. It is absolutely refreshing to see your travelogue. I have done the same trip during the same time that you did, however I went to Malvan by NH17 and came back by Gaganbawda - Kolhapur - NH4. To say the least Gaganbawda is one of the majestic ghats to drive on. With your permission would like to put up some snaps. please:

The return journey was via the Kolhapur - Mumbai NH4 road which is part of GQ, so it was boring staright roads nothing to write about;), as i have mentioned earlier, Padmini gave me no issues no the return trip from kolhapur.

Yes thats true, have been to many Ghat sections in my padmini! Mr 1100D, my tyre setup is similar to yours! 155/80 R 14 at front and 165/80 R 14 at rear.

FE was very poor 11kpl while going, but changed to 14 Kpl on return journey ( After New clutch ) which was completely on the expressway.Normally she avarages around 10 kmpl in city.

Brought back memories of the numerous trips we had taken in our old 1984 PP to our village (Vengurla). We used to drive with 6-8 people on board.Had to stop several times on Ghat sections to let the engine cool down.

I noticed a K&N sticker on the car.Have you installed one in your car ?

Its just a sticker, i dont think K&N will make a difference.Also my car is a 1993 Petrol which has come with factory fitted AC ( Which is not working now ), hence i have a large sized radiator, never had any issues with overheating yet inspite of trips to Lonavla, Malshej ghat , Jawhar and even gaganbavda ghat is 1st gear!
