We had a leisure trip from Navi Mumbai to Shirdi, Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Silvassa & Daman.

Day 1:

Started from Home at 9.30's to Shirdi, usual traffic till Mulund & then Eastern Express Hiway, NH 3...

First break at Gurudutta Restaurant (15 min break)

Diversion from NH3 to Ghoti-Sinnar-Shirdi

Road is in pathetic condition .. First 15-20km with potholes and had to drive at 30-40km...

Reached Shirdi at 4.30pm - 291 km in 7 hr (one hour break for lunch+15 min break )

Happened to have the evening Aarthi darshan at Shirdi

Tried the different route - Shirdi - Yeola-Nashik (124 km)

Much better route, breezy drive and was comfortably cruising at 60-80 km/hr

Night Halt at Nashik - New Holiday Plaza

Day 2:

Started at 10.15 am from Nashik to Trimbakeshwar

Reached Trimbakeshwar at 11.30 am, chose to go with a guide

Visited the Mantap with Dakshin Kedarnath, Ashtavinayak in a single idol,...

Had a 1 hour wait for the Trimbakeshwar Darshan

Guide suggested a Andhra meal restaurant on the Nashik route..good meal

While driving towards Trimbakeshwar noticed the milestones quoting distance to Daman as 135 km.. this initiated the thought process.. decided to drive towards Daman

Trimbakeshwar to Jawahar - State highway - deserted & through the ghats (road better than the Goti-sinnar route)

Jawahar to Silvassa through Jawahar - Vapi highway (Single narrow road) via Mandoni - ITDP .. viewed the reality of rural tribal..

Reached Silvassa at 6.25 pm at Lotus Resort... Being a weekday and post diwali, lucky to get accomodated at high discount from the resort.

Good food & sleep..

Day 3:

Started from Silvassa towards Vasona Lion Safari..

The crowd at Vasona Lion safari created a lot of expectation, however there are only 2 lions in the safari !

From Vasona Lion Safari drove to Devka beach at Daman..

Spent few hours at Devka beach and felt our Kashid is much better...!!

Drove back to Navi Mumbai at 3.15pm from Devka beach Daman and reached Navi Mumbai at 8.05 pm... Drive through Western Express highway, Godbhunder road, SV road & Thane Belapur expressway...850 km trip came to a halt

No preplanned itinery No booking & leisure trip as the road goes .. relaxed driving ..Good experience

Was the Jawahar-Silvassa road in good condition?

Jawahar -Silvassa road is very narrow, with rough patches at 3 stretches of half km each, however its definitely better then Ghoti-Sinnar stretch....

HVK Sir, in August I rode from Nashik-Trimbak-Jawahar-Wada-Tansa-Shahpur and the road was wow even during rains. Dont know the present conditions.

@malsamy, eager to know road condition as I plan to do the route on my Nomad (RD350)

NomadAbhi, but the road which maylsamy has taken is different from what I can make out. From Jawahar, he has gone north on teh direct road to Slvassa without touching Wada or Manor (which is the NH8 route). I have driven the Jawahar-Silvassa road once, I remember it to be a fabulous one, going through unspoilt greenscapes.

Yes, the road you took from Triambak to Jawahar is also one of my favourite routes, but I have not been in it for some years now. Do you know there is a direct road from Triambak to Wada also without touching Jawahar?

Jawahar Vapi highway is a single narrow road cutting across the unspoiled natural beauty.. very narrow single road with 3 rough patches of half km each(approx).. however this road is definitely better than Ghoti Sinnar Stretch.
I drove till Jawahar and took a right turn to Silvassa through Jawahar Vapi state highway. If travelled straight we will hit Dahanu..

@HVK Sir, are you talking about the one which takes you thru khodala? If then spending sunrise there/Suryamal is a wow factor.

The route I was talking about was different than the one that takes to Silvassa but what I observed while passing those area is that they have narrow but well maintained roads.
While travelling in Maharashtra, one can bet to find village roads better than most of the City roads :-)

I am not sure, but I think so. This is the road which goes north from Jawahar town. I think it is also the route to the Dabosha Waterfalls?

I agree, some of the rural roads can be a real pleasant surprise.

The Azure is amazing. For the last one month, I am struggling to find it in Bangalore!
