The Roads:

The first part of the drive is from Chennai to Vaniyambadi along the NH4. This road being a part of GQ is near flawless. I have driven through this road numerous times and every time this road never fails to impress me.

The second part is a small 6 km stretch from Vaniyambadi which is along the state highway. Though 2 lane, the quality of the road was very good with enough turns to bring a smile

The Ghat roads were for the next 15 kms. The quality of the road was excellent and lots of twists with 14 hair pin bends to bring delights to a driver. As exepected from a Ghat road, it was a bit narrow.

Otherwise it was a 15 km of sheer pleasure. I screeched tyres at 2 hair pin bends putting 2 other vehicles to a scare

Pics of the NH4, The state highway and the Ghat Roads. There are also two pics of views from the Ghat Road.

Thanks rk_sans!

Resort:

We reached the Resort just before lunch. This is one of the popular resorts in the place with good service, good rooms and manageable food.

One thing which I liked is the drive anywhere facility.

After all, how many places allow you to park your car right next to your room ?

Later in the evening, we visited the Nature Park. It was already 6:30 PM and the park was closed. There was a musical Fountain show though which was supposed to start at 7 PM.

We saw through the show. The pattern was random and it was just repeating. But our minds easily sync the pattern with the music that plays.

Some shots that I managed:

Yelagiri is just about ~150Km from bangalore which is much closer than chennai.
The best part about Yelagiri besides the mighty hill is its weather which is cool most part of the year.

Hi Parameswaran,
Very nice pics here and you seem to have a good time in Yelagiri.
Also as everybody asked, can you please share the details of the resort and the tariffs. Looks very good.

- The room rate for a day is 1500 if you book directly. I booked online and it was 1692

- Thanks. I used the Fujifilm HS10

- There is a lake where you can do pedal boating. There is a trek on a hill called swamimalai.
- There is a waterfall called Jalagamparai. You have to come down the hill and its about 20 kms from Vaniyambadi.
- If you're interested in temples, there is a temple on the hill as well as a nice shiva temple near Jalagamparai.

Re: A short trip to Yelagiri Hills - A Photolog

A Trivia:

I logged the points from Bangalore to Yalagiri on my Garmin. Look at the Altitude Profile versus the distance covered.

A short trip to Yelagiri Hills - A Photolog-hieght.jpg

1. Bangalore altitude is almost same as Yelagiri.
2. You go down the path and then climb at the end!
