Horanadu's food is the best if you ask me. Afterall isn't it Annapoorneshwari who resides in Horanadu?
Hope I get time sometime to go beyond Sringeri and go over to Horanadu, Dharmasthala, Subramanya etc as well. Been in my mind for over 10 years, but then when I go to Sringeri, I get stuck there!

DNH. Waiting for your photos.

I believe those who go to Hornadu directly usually take the Ckm-Aldur-Balehonnur-Hornadu route while those going to Kalasa/Kudremukh usually take Mudigere-Kottigehara route.

I drove my i10 sports with 5 people.
The view from there and the tea at the small hotel down are great.
Later on I will post photos that I took last year.
Even I had heard about this place when I went to Kalasa. But could not go there as there was no time.

I think at 2:30pm thier is another pooja where people who have given seva's like annadhana etc are let inside and are allowed to light deepa(diya's), this takes about 30+mins...

For many years have liked food at subramanya, last year when i was in Hornadu i was impressed with the food quality but couple months back when i visited again was a bit dissapointed...

As a matter of fact the food in most of the temples in Malnad and coastal Karnataka - Sringeri, Dharmathala, Subramanya, Udupi, Horanadu etc - is very good and there is a practice of serving free food in most of them.

What i liked most about Horanadu is the drive from Chikkamagalur and the serenity of the place. If one is interested there are trekking trails as well.

Sorry guys after returning got of things happened, got the office shifted, house paintings etc.. My battery is too weak for now, so here are just few photos.

That's me with my son. There is a sunflower farm on the outskirts of chikmagalur.

Another of just pure sun-power flower

General road conditions after you cross chikamagalur.

This ones infact a beautiful scene, couldn't capture that in the camera, have to learn some basics of photography and have to get good camera. But this was beautiful dark clouds moving towards the mountain. This just few KM from Horanadu

For Horanadu, you have to go via Kalasa.

Also apart from Sakleshpur the other option is Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Kottigehara-Kalasa-Horanadu.

No idea about road conditions.

No need to go via Sakleshpur unless you specifically want it. The other options are via Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Kottigehara-Kalasa-Horanadu OR Hassan-Belur-Chikmagalur-Aldur-Balehonnur-Magundi-Horanadu

Route 1: The road upto Kottigehara is in good shape. After that I'm not very sure.

Route 2: The road is good almost upto Horanadu. I have some doubts about conditions near Aldur, but apart from that, it should be fine

Sakleshpur-Mudigere road is in bad condition

Re: Bangalore to Horanadu

I took Bangalore - Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Kottigehara-Kalasa-Horanadu on 20 March. Roads are decent. took around 6 hours to Kalasa from Hebbal.

Re: Bangalore to Horanadu

i took the following route
Hassan-Belur-Chikmagalur-Aldur-Balehonnur-Magundi-Horanadu

the road is very good till chikmangalur, after this road is okay but not bad.
Driving chikmangalur to hornadu requires concentration because of the winding roads.
