It was our company’s Sales Kick-off conference at Singapore, and we all were excited. The dates were preset as 18 Nov’10 to 21 Nov’10. All the necessary travel arrangements were well handled by our able admin team. Surely it was a privilege that our venue was - the magnificent, marvelous Marina Bay Sands (called MBS in short).

Note: I have reduced all my pictures to 800x600 using FastStone Photo Resizer 3.0, to fit in the >1MB upload limit.

Amongst our Mumbai team, some of us had been booked in Kingfisher IT-29 on Wed 17 Nov’10 at 11.30 PM; the others were in a similar Jet Airways. We assembled at the Celebrations airport lounge; as few of you would have guessed – a small party already began! Later, upon settling in the aircraft, and having some of the servings, I play a bit with ‘in-flight entertainment system’ and selected the movie ‘A Team’. Once the movie was over, since it was high time to sleep, I plunged into a deep slumber (albeit hardly for 3 hours) otherwise our next day could be spoiled.

We landed SG at 7.15 AM, in a while came out with our luggage, where our shuttle bus was waiting to take us to our hotel MBS. We checked-in to our designated rooms by 10.30 AM to get freshened-up.

Below are some pics of the backside from my room balcony:

This was my third trip, the last I visited was more than 5 years back!

The next hop was a familiar place – Little India / Serangoon Road. We had our lunch at Ananda Bhavan , I tried the South Indian ‘thali meal’. The Mustafa Money Changer counter offers some decent rates, surely better that the ones at the airport. Then some of us went to Mustafa Shopping Center and leisured for 2 hours.

We returned to MBS by 5.30 PM and all had to again assemble at the lobby.
Some pics of the lobby: the MBS architectural model looked superb.

The evening was fun-filled with a visit to Universal Studio, which hosted our kick-off gala dinner:

some more pics at Universal Studio:

Nice pics Pranav, waiting to see more ! Did you also make it to Sentosa ?

kannan: The entire Sentosa Resort was not seen, just the Universal Studio part was set as the venue for our evening entertainment / dinner.

More pics, hope you like it.

The troop showed some fantastic dance:

Hey this is great. Did you try any of the rides or shows in Universal or was it too late? Would you know the ones available at Singapore Universal?

SafeDrive: the only show we visited was : Lights! Camera! Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg. The experience was simply fantastic, 4D stuff, a scenario created wherein a hurricane hits New York. Didnt click any pics (fyi - flash not allowed), I was just mesmerized by the show itself !

after the evening here, we returned MBS, then again proceeded for a night stroll.

more to come ahead.

The 19th morning - we got ready by 8.15 AM (too early to start the day after the looong previous night!), had our breakfast at RISE @ lobby, pushed-off to the MBS Convention Center across the road to attend our conference. The day was populated with some serious presentations, product exhibitions, lunch and evening tea.

I participated in a lucky draw at one of the exhibition stall, wherein I won a Apple iPAD (16 GB WiFi).

Once the event was over, some of us went to the much acclaimed swimming pool – located at the 57th (top) floor on MBS.

Some selected pics from the pool area:

Appropriate attire was already been provided to each country team to represent their individual theme. Ours was as F1 Team. We got ourselves ready and proceeded to the convention center, where we all had skits to play, followed by awards ceremony and a lovely dinner. (sorry no pics). Officially, it was end of 19th. Ofcourse, we did complete our task - night stroll.

The 20th morning saga was no different than 19th, still we got up early and were ready to start our second day of conference. Once the event was over, three of us decided to visit the Singapore Flywheel. So fool of us to forget our camera at the room (we did call ourselves 3 Idiots !). Nevertheless, the sight that we enjoyed and captured in our human eyes was itself mind blowing. It’s a huge tall flywheel (but shorter than the MBS!), a 45min ride, giving a eagle’s eye view across the city. Before starting the ride, we got some pics clicked on a plain background (for free), which later were offered for purchase with morphed background of the flywheel itself. Finally, as a memento, we purchased 6 different pics for SG$60, they are real good (morphed).

Then we returned MBS, freshened-up, again started to the market area for some dinner. Most of us landed at Mustafa for some shopping and fun around. As usual, we retired to bed late, since the next day nothing much was planned.

21st (Sunday), I enjoyed some sleep and woke-up late. I got ready by 11.30 AM and some of us gathered at the lobby area. We were accompanied by one of our local colleague, and went to Suntec Towers for lunch.

Some snaps while at Suntec and way back to MBS.

Something beautiful to capture at the airport:

Finally we boarded our flight KF - IT30 at 06.10 PM, had some food, followed by a decent sleep - straight to wake-up at 09.30 PM IST. Once outside the Mumbai airport, we bid sayonara to our colleagues, headed for our home-sweet-home.

This brings an end to my travelogue, hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Good travelogue. Brings backs lots of memories about Singapore. Its one of my favorite cities and have visited it a few times. It never ceases to amaze me. The photos you have shared make me want to visit the Marina Bay Sands and Universal studios. I think I must plan a trip there shortly :)
