Short Travel account of Delhi-Shimla-Manali-Delhi Trip

I love to drive in mountains, I had driven my Santro from Delh to Nainital and I loved the Ghat (mountain section) section drive. Therefore I always wanted to go Manali and have great fun of driving in that Ghat section, which everyone told me more challenging than Nainital. Also, I have never seen snow, that also I wanted to experience. So decided, to go to Manali and I was in Delhi (Gurgaon) for official work (with my car), hence it is more convenientfor me.Initially thought of going alone but when I asked my friend he got ready immediately and program was decided.

Dates : Start on 4th December and return Delhi on 9th December.
Places to visit : Manali and Shmla

Day 1 : Picked up friend from Nizamuddin station at 11:00 am and started immediately. thru outer ring road joined on NH1. Somewhere near Karnal stopped for Lunch (also had couple of smoke breaks

). after Panipat almost everywhere road widening / fly-over work is going on NH1, so we got good amount of trafic. As per original plan we decided to go on Manali route and reached to Bharatpur and on second day reach Manali by 12 noon but after reaching Zirakpur we took wrong right turn (actually we supposed to go straight and after crossing Chandigarh we had to take Kharar road), which we realised after travelling good amount of KMs

. So what shall we do now, luckily we were on Shimla road hence, decided to go to Shimla first. While going to Shimla we got many small town on our way and the road is just 2 lanes. Covered all Ghat section from 7 pm to 9:30 pm, the road was ok but I would have loved to drive on day time. Night checked in Shimla hotel (after 1 hour search).
Day 2 : Spent in Shimla, Visited one spot and after that I took complete rest. Either I am too lazy (which is fact) or I become too old to lost interest in everything, I love only one thing and i.e. Drive, which I enjoyed in full trip.
Day3 : At 10 am started from Shimla for Manali. It was complete hilly area ( my favorite Ghat section) and to some extend road was ok. reached Manali at 6 pm covered 250 KMs.
Day 4: We have done paragliding.
Day 5: We went to Rohtangpass and first time in my life I seen snow. But, I would have loved to get snow fall, may be next time. Returned from Rohtangpass and started returned Journey at 4 pm. from Bharatput to Chandigarh road was pathetic, reached Chandigarh at around 11 pm. checked in Hotel for night stay.
Day 6 : Started from Chandigarh at 11: 30 am and reached Delhi airport at 5 pm ( actually we reached Delhi at around 3:45 but to reach airport it took more than hour).

I think you are referring to Bharatgarh and not Bharatpur.

Nice pics. I did this trip during the recent Easter Weekend. Had a great time. Loved both Shimla and Manali.

I think the pics are from Solang Valley near Manali. There is a ski resort at that place with a ski lift that takes you to a height of 10200 feet. The views from the top were amazing.

Thanks. Yes, as mentioned by Newpunter we have done paragliding at Solang vally. But not from the height of 10200 feet, just a small one to have experience.

I like Manali most. My purpose of this trip was enjoy drive and I enjoyed it lot.
