Re: Incredible India A trip to Snow clad moutains and the deserts of India

After simple breakfast Badal Singh got us two camels and we were on the way to the desert.
We saw a lot of family life of the villages.
A lot of cattle, small temple, schools, petty shops.
We started around 10am but the wind was still very cold.
Passed through the village.
Reached a well where the locals fetch water.
My wife did some tricks by pulling water from the well.
The locals were not satisfied for her effort.
Then slowly we traversed into the desert.

Re: Incredible India A trip to Snow clad moutains and the deserts of India

We stated around 1pm from the Khhodi village and reached Jaisalmer.
Our first agenda was to visit Jaisalmer fort.
We were bucked by the brokers running around us for hotel occomodations but we did not heed to anyone.
Parked the car outside the fort.
We took a guide and entered the fort.
Some pictures from the Jaisalmer fort.

After visiting the fort the next was to see Patwon Ki Haveli.
It is located on a narrow lane in the main Jaisalmer city and 10 mins walk from the fort through the small lanes.
Our guide was with us showing the Haweli

Re: Incredible India A trip to Snow clad moutains and the deserts of India

FIFTH LEG FROM JAISALMER TO SHIRDI

After completion of the Haveli it was around 5pm and all my program was complete and we had a spare day.
So our plan was to reach Shirdi have Darshan and proceed back to Hyderabad.
My route was Sanchore-Tharad-Mehsana-Ahmedabad-Valsad-Nashik-Shirdi.
Started around 5.30pm from Jaisalmer reached Sanchore 8.30pm had dinner.
Locals guided me saying the Sanchor-Dhanera-Disa was bad so decide to go
through Tharad and then to Disa.
From Sanchore to the Gujarat border about 15kms is with potholes but drivable and once into Gujarat excellent roads
till Valsad.
Took the Sadar patel ring road to cross Ahmedabad and were well guided through the sign boards.
Ahmedabad-Vadodra was excellent to drive on.Probably one of the best stretches of Golden Quadrilateral.
I was little apprehensive at the Bharuch bridge but as it was in the night there was no traffic jams and I crossed this bridge without ant holdups anywhere.
From Valsad-Dharampur-Khaprada-Nashik.
The roads upto Dharampur was good and started detoriarating after this place.
From Chiol-Peint is around 60kms was very bad and took almost 2hrs.
Reached Nashik around 9am took a room in the hotel and rested for about 2hrs.

Re: Incredible India A trip to Snow clad moutains and the deserts of India

Started from Nashik around 11am reached Shirdi 1.00pm.
We were in the Que by 1.30pm and finished Darshan 3.30pm thanked the Almighty for a good trip.
Went to the Rajasthani restaurant finished lunch.
Started from Shirdi 5.00pm reached Ahmednagar 6.00pm.
Gave the car to my wife to drive. After driving for 10kms she started telling
there is some noise from the engine while applying breaks.
So took the car back and tested the vehicle and found that my front break pads were getting worn off and was to drive another 500kms.
So drove back to Ahmednagar could find a mechanic and changed both the front break pads.
Started Ahmednagar 9.30pm through Temburni-Solapur-Zaheerabad with some power naps reached Hyderabad 5.30am
I conclude here and thank all my teambhpians for the support and the inspiration to take on this trip and guiding me on the routes and the road conditions.
