@RK...U bet, Peach Blossom sounded classy...Apple blossom doesnt quite ring a bell. Guess, the new management doesnt have a vivid imagination!

Thanks, rkbharat. This is an HPTDC hotel now. No idea when the change happened.

Okie, but it was HPTDC from the day it opened, I had a very long chat with the original owner during my two stays there. This was one of the best place to set your base and then Drive to Shimla, Chail and Kufri.

View from the rear rooms are amazing and a early morning walk passing the farms at the back is divine.

Time to show the Bullet, and the snow show that we missed at Narkanda, because we couldn't stay overnight at the Hotel Hatu. When these gentlemen arrived at 9pm, the hotel finally managed to get them one room. The pics are from the next morning.

Nice pics. It seems you enjoyed your stay to max. Any bone chilling experiences on snow?

We sure did - except we'd have loved to spend a couple of days more there. "Bone chilling experience" - I'm sorry I don't understand...

Well, here are the last set of photos from me. All too soon, it was time to go home.

Some more pics in the snow...
(Shooting me in the foot)

That's rideon's daughter...
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-p1300069k100.jpg

Fresh snow on the roadside
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02439k100.jpg

It was a leisurely drive with a lot of stops.
We stopped at Solan to buy fruits - especially apples...
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02443k100.jpg

...and to watch the train go by.
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02440k100.jpg

At McDonald's Dharampur...
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02446k100.jpg

...where a new ropeway is being built to take one straight up to Kasauli in 15 minutes.
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02445k100.jpg

Then another stop at Parwanoo to buy pickles - chicken pickles, mutton, mushroom, garlic pickles, the whole list of stuff the guy had in his shop! Had an elaborate tasting session too. At the end of it, the guy did more business then, than he had for the past one week.
Hawk-0n-Fours® (H-4®) Roadtrip: H-4® & QuickSilver Go Snow-Hunting-dsc02453k100.jpg

More stops included one to buy oranges, and multiple stops between Ambala and Delhi border to look for elusive "chicken parathas". We were told that the stuff is available at some places on this stretch, esp. at Murthal, but no, we figured that the whole stretch of road is pure "vaishno" vegetarian!

Does anyone have any information on where these "chicken parathas" are found on this stretch of NH1?

Edit: One last pic of a fluorescent house on a hill.

Thanks for posting the pics Doc! I for one have been so engaged at work that I've been able to login after many days.

Yes the trip ended too soon, but it was thoroughly enjoyable moreso with the company that my family and I had.

We now have set our targets further and you may hear about it in a while.

I meant, any anxious moments due to vehicle slipping on snow, etc.

Thank you, ajay0612. Anxious moments... umm... not particularly, except for a few seconds when the rear wheel stuck... but then, I carry around that extra differential only for such eventualities.
