I dont remember taking pics of jams inside a tunnel. If I find one, I will put it up later.
I have only ever been caught in a 'tunnel jam' to/ from the airport and I am sure I must have been sleepy enough or not had a camera on hand then. But then those are not really narrow two lane highways, so its not as claustrophobic. Especially if one is dozing off

By the way, I have managed to resize the pics to fit tbhp upload requirements, but it seems that it has happened at the cost of clarity. I should be more careful next time.
Tips welcome!

Re: Paris, Black Forest, Bavaria & Switzerland

Sometime at the end of June in a tiny meeting room in an office within 'cycling' distance of central Paris.
My mid year appraisal with my French manager

She: All good on the work front, better than expected, blah blah rating. All fine
Me: ok (how hasnt she said it yet
She: Except one major concern
Me: (sitting up wide awake now: aah there we go, but I remember doing only minor gochi/ goodal
She: You havent taken any holidays and its June already. How are you going to ever finish your holidays
Me: Oh I have already updated the holiday calendar. I will be taking my 3 weeks off in December
She: And what about the rest?
Me: I will extend it to include the remaining days
She: I cannot allow that
Me: why its only 2 additional days, considering I joined the project in Feb. Its prorated, right
She: Bienvenue chez France. We have 9 weeks of annual holiday
Me: say what?!
She: you and the Brits are the only people who havent taken any holidays. Something wrong with you tea drinkers. so you and the Brits are off in August for at least 2 weeks
Me: (but where, what the heck?!)
She: Approved by project sponsor. Mandatory holiday. Get out of Paris, nobody stays here in August. I have to go now
Me: ?!!

I am loving work life in Paris! Now to go home and break the news to the wife Dee and the Son (disclaimer: no copyright/ trademark or connect to the Yetiblog terms!).

Especially to majdoor folks. France is friendlier to majdoors than managers.
There is a condition though. The holidays have to be earned. So if you work for a year, you accumulate your holidays (upto 45). My manager was 'kind' enough to let us use even in the first year.

Here is the killer punch:
45 days excluding public holidays

Ashishbhau, I am going on holiday this weekend (hopefully!). Seems to be the only one this year and that too only for 2 days :( In fact I was looking for some accomodation tips and saw your post about Dreamland, but could not agree on that place.

Updating this thread is now on the backburner unfortunately. You will be able to see the pics on FB till then Sorry for the continued delays!
