EDIT: Could you please provide the dates you're in Narkanda? I've been dying to visit a snowy place, close to Noida, but fear I might be too late since it's starting to get warm already. |
I was in Narkanda on the 4th and 5th of Feb. It had snowed there the weekend before when SS-Traveller was there.
It has snowed yesterday even in Shimla. So this weekend should be perfect for snow chasers.
ps: For those who want to make Shimla their base and not stay in 'proper' crowded Shimla (especially if you are driving), there is a brilliant homestay in Shoghi 13km from Shimla run by Mr Romesh Agarwal, a retired gent and his wife.
Amazing views, clean rooms, reasonable prices, great ghar ka khana.
Have stayed there twice including this time on the way back. Sunrise Villa Shimla: Stay with nature @ Rs. 1200
Other places to stay, closer to snow are
The Apple/Peach? Blossom in Fagu
Hotel Hatu in Narkanda (but do book in advance)
Narkanda is atleast 2 - 2.5 hours from Shimla. Roads are mostly okay but some stretches are quite bad. |
