Sir,
Rightly said ,one does not need to be really past the jungle gates to face danger.
I remember 2 years ago when i was in kanha, there were no sightings in the evening safari and we got back to Baghira Log huts.
The next day we got to know that everyone saw a tigress way past baghira log huts right on the road.

Thank you Sir. What happened to the 2 year hiatus? I knew it would be difficult to resist the attraction of the jungle..

Re: Reflections on Wildlife Addictions "Pench and Kanha National Park"

In Search we drive through the winding ways of the forest with the evening sun playing with its colors and making the jungles turn into a spectrum of reds , browns and gold.

We like the rest line up to see the family of four strolling around . The male cub is very vocal, we could here him growl back in irritation at the sambar calls. There were binoculores being borrowed and a whole lot of pointing out at shrubs and trees. I was seated quitely as my son was fast asleep. Suddenly there was a lot of excitment in the air, I got impatient to see , but then hubby asked me to relax and bro promised to show me the tigers thru his lens later.
The person on the bike is the forest offical who very quitely keeps the tourists in control. I have not seen him saying anything,Its just his presence that the guides and drivers dont move an inch out of line.

Well this was what was seen throught the camera lens.
But then everyone of us felt very happy. The glee on every persons face is worth watching out.
We promised the family to be back the next morning.

Wow. Superb. This May 2010 Kanha is must for me. The owl picture is nice and the tiger habitat shot. There are six owl being captured at that place by Mr. Harshad Barve, siting next to each other in a row.

@Subrat,
The max no of owls I have seen in this tree is 4.

Few Pictures of the resort, showing the proximity of wildlife .
We were in constant company of 2 jackals near our room as they had killed a fawn there. They roamed around like domesticated dogs, my son wanting to make friends with them as to him they looked way smaller than our german shepherd at home.

The Gol Ghar.

Herd of bisons and spotted deer near the waterhole. This water hole is basically the water collected from the drain pipe of the resturant kitchen.

Commander Chitnis,
Most of the parks are closed in monsoons (3rd quarter) due to animal mating season and bad park roads, its like a holiday for the forest and its inhabitants.

There are exceptions like Tadoba and also maybe, Maharashtra Pench, where the park is open all year. Sightings are at the lowest here too as there is abundant water and animals don't need to come to waterholes, where most action takes place during summers. Herbivores are in deep forest as there is fodder all around, so the preadator too follows them into deep forest, furthermore dense foilage mars your chances of sighting animals at this time of the year .

If you want to enjoy the forest its heaven out there, but for animal sightings, not the right month. Your itenerary needs to be planned as per your prefrences.
Regards,
