I would say only 5j ....below that u wont get the best out of your tyres...and above that there are chances of tyres scraping with the body

Stick with 155/70/R13. It would be perfect

what size rims did u buy ????...i think 165/60r13 should work on the alto ...i have seen many alto's with these tires ..but dont know if they touch or scrape ..
if u havent used the rims ...then u should try and get a 5j rim ...aura will have 5j rims with teh same PCD as the alto OE rims

185/60R13 on 6J alloys on an Alto LX...

I've fitted my alloys (6J) & tyres (Goodyear Vectra : 185/60R13) from my old Esteem to my wife's Alto about 2 weeks ago, & here are the pluses & minuses I've problems faced:

Pluses:

1. Great roadholding.

2. Great looks.

3. Great ride with bumps absorbed really well.

Minuses:

1. On really bad craters & speed berms hit above 40kmh, there's a sound like the damn suspension's gonna tear off - a hard mechanical "chunnnnk" that wasn't there earlier. Below this speed, there's no sound whatsoever in any bump.

2. There's a slight scraping sound sometimes (I haven't heard it, but my wife allegedly has), coming from the front right side.

The car's relatively new (2.5 years old, 19k kms) & has never made any suspension noises before, so I guess it has to be the alloys / tires.

Can anybody help? What should I do - (she doesn't want to raise the car) & I'd prefer not to change the tyres, although I would if I had to...

Thanks,

Re: 13 inch tyres for alto

Hi All
good day
Trying to revive this thread, my 2012 alto which has 145 80 R12 tyres running on stock 5J rims are nearing change. the car has run only 49494 kms as mostly used on weekends and for occasionally going to office 7 kms to n fro or dropping kids to school a distance of 3 kms to n fro. When I checked online calculator for upsizing i came to know that a diameter difference of less than 2% would be acceptable. which makes the tyre upsize options 155 70 R13 and 165 65 R13.

Link to Online Calculator:
https://www.thetyreworld.in/tyre-calculator.php

a few posts ago in this thread, there was this post:

and the response which confused me:
"do u use the alto ....??????if you don't please dont give wrong advises.. 155/70r13 is not at the right upsize ...the OD is wrong ...145/70r13,155/65r13 and 165/60r13 are the ones that can be fitted as upsizes ..."

As the roads near my house are uneven and bad not planning for alloys as I've heard that steel rims don't break on bad roads they just bend and can be repaired..also do not want to invest in alloys at the moment

my questions are:
1. Can the 13-inch tyres be fitted on stock rims of 12-inch 5J?
2. What will be the effect on mileage?
3. How will it affect the drive quality in terms of comfort, stability and safety?
4. will it lead to hydroplaning/aquaplaning?

Has anyone tried an upgrade on stock rims? request experts to advise.

Thanks and regards
