I would suggest that you stick to the opinions given by the tyre experts above. 7.5 J is simply too wide for a Swift.

For 205, max acceptable is 7J with 6.5J being more preferable. 7.5 is a no-no.

Tyre change for my Swift

I am planning to change my Swift VXi tyres. OE JK tyres have worn out at 32500 KMS.

Size: 185/70R 14

I am looking at the following options.

Bridgestone Potenza GIII - Rs 3,200/- per tyre (Made in India) and imported Rs 3,400/- per tyre

Michellin XM1+ - Rs 3,540/- per tyre

Yokohama AS-drive - Rs 3250/- per tyre

Please advice which one should I go for?, does made in India or Imported matter a lot?

Are the prices quoted correct?

Thanks in advance
diwa

Choose between Yoko or Michelin. Stay away from the GIII's.

How on earth is that possible? The high performance imports can be excused for wearing out at that mileage - not rock hard JKs or MRFs.

Although hard, they were majorly narrow tyres,Mahesh.
So, the 1 ton weight on the 165s would have worn them out. Driving style , vehicle load would also add to the wear.

I don't know. Wheel balancing and alignment are regularly done and all 5 tyres are rotated.

I had a problem of tyre noise and after 30,000 kms service (service done at 31,700 kms), the service guy (know him personally) told me to change the tyres. I am not comfortable driving the car with the tyres, its slipping and sliding. I am going to replace my tires on Saturday.

Is the tread worn out or the tyres aren't feeling good? 185s were stock for Zxi.

Mine is a VXi, stock is 165. I am upgrading to 185s. The treads have worn out, so they aren't feeling good. The service guy tells me that the OE Jk Tyres lasts only 30 - 35,000 Kms.

you are absolutely right, i had 195/60-R15 on 7J alloys on the swift and i have shifted them to viva now! i had no problems of tyres scraping but the ride quality is a bit hard that is all!

get the 7J alloys i would not recommend the 7.5J they are too big for the 205 profile not at all recommended, for get the scraping part the handling and comfort will surely go real bad!

With 7.5j the wheels might scrape and ride quality will be bad.
