Do you mean Rs.1200 for a brand new JK Tornado 165/80-R14 tyre!!
Please let me know where you can get these tyres for the price you have mentioned.

Rim/Alloy Offset value of old Swift VXi/Zxi

Thanks. I also just got an email from Maruti confirming this. The offset value of rims in VXi (old model) and the alloys in ZXi (old model) is +45 mm.

Someone had mentioned this incorrectly as +38 also. Not sure if +45 value is true for the redesigned Swifts or not.

Nope. The price of a brand new tyres is around 2.5k per tyre. For 1200, you will be getting a removed/used tyre.

Dude can you help me out? Which dealer in Bangalore is offering at that price? I want to but set of four. I don't mind a removed or used tyre.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Try J C road. Lots of people selling used tyres. See, the buyback price for a 165/80-14 JK/MRF is around 1600-1700. This is for a tyre that has run around 100 kms or less. So, if you want a removed tyre, you will get it at 1800-2000.
\
For 1200, you will get tyres used for thousands of kms and in not very good condition. I would always suggest you buy a new tyre spending a little extra money or at least a removed tyre which has run for less than 100-200 kms.

Any particular shop around there, had been to several on Saturday and they were quoting 2,800 for new 165/80-14 JK. Moment you ask for removed tyres they say they don't deal with them.

No particular shop... Generally lots of small JC road dealers have stock of removed tyres.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Spoke to the car dealer and he gave me a quote of 12000 for 5 185/70 R15 Brand: Pirelli and this is in exchange of the new 165/80 R14 that would come with the L/V models .

Is the price a bit on the higher side ?

Also please advise as to how does this brand fare in terms of road noise.

How should I ensure that the tyres are fresh one's ? What more should I look out for while buying them ?
I bought 2 A drives at Rs 3500 a piece exclusive of balancing and alignment. To ensure them are new look at the sticker if it is re-stuck and look at the edges for any possible signs of usage.

Ensure that these are new as the quoted price is less . They cost +2700. Perhaps. they could be the exchanged ones from brand new Swifts.

Price appears to be reasonable.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

How are folks going for 185/70/R15 in the new Swift when the stock size is 185/65/R15 ?
Changing the profile although minute will give Maruti scope for voiding suspension, steering and wheel bearing warranty.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I am getting delivery of my New Swift VDi on 3/Oct and I am planing to upgrade the tyres from the Stock (165/80/R14) to 185/65/R15 (Zdi Stock) or 195/60-15 or 205/60-15.

Please let me know if upsizing my Vdi to 195/60-15 would void warranty + will it affect the ride quality?

Can anyone please recommend any good Tyre & Alloys shops in and around Whitefield/Marathahelli (Bangalore).

I have been using Yokohama ES-100 195/60-15 on my Swift Petrol since 2008.
  • The Yokos offer fantastic grip in both wet and dry conditions and combined with ABS they offer much better stopping power.
  • Tyre upgrade is a must of you like travelling at high speeds.
  • I have had no suspension issues and Maruti does not mention about suspension warranty becoming void with this particular upgrade.
  • The ride quality IMO is the same as stock, maybe a little harder
  • I am getting 13.25 kmpl mileage in the city using Shell regular.
BTW I am in the search for stock swift tyres, I was planning to buy them this week. Any idea when are you planning to upgrade your tyres?

All good upgrades- within 1% error. Go for it!
All manufacturers claim changing stocksize results in warranty voiding. In the case of 185/65/R14 MSIL cannot claim this since it IS a stock size in the higher variant. But for the other sizes they are within their rights to deny you warranty. Whether they enforce it is another matter.

195/60R15 is the perfect size for the old Swift. I have Yokos in 185/70R14 and am pleased with them, but it was a close call between these and the 195/60s- the fact that there was a tyre shortage at the time ws the main factor.

You can PM nikhilb2008 who is very knowledgeable about tyres in generl and may be able to help you with options in Bangalore.

.
165/80/14 OD 1868 mm.
185/65/15 OD 1818 mm 2.7% difference with stock
195/60/15 OD 1854 mm <1% diff with stock
205/60/15 OD 1890 mm 1.2 % difference with stock

source Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 4 of 4

IMO 195/60/15 is the size you want to go with to keep as close to stock size OD
