re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

195 will foul when loaded car passes over a medium speedbreaker at speeds >20kmph.

185/70/14 is the best/only tyre upgrade for swift with stock wheels.

After much confusion I have upgraded my Swifty's tyres yesterday. I had a slight confusion whether to go for 185/70R14 Michelin XM2 or Yoko 195/65R14. Finally decided to go for Yokohama 195/65R14 A drives.Cost per tyre was 4485/-.I loved the construction of the tyre and also tread pattern.
Installed new valves, did the balancing and alignment also. Total cost 18900/-(set of four tyres). Initial impressions are positive, the car holds on to the road well, silent. Steering feels a tad tight but directional changes are more reassuring. My OE JK's lasted me 69000kms. Hope to repeat the feat again... Overall value for money product...
Pics coming soon

Hi Dilip, How is the performance of your A-Drives ? How is the cornering grip ?
I'm actually looking for performance tyres for my swift Vdi in 185/70/R14. Can you comment on the comfort levels of 195/65/R14 on your Swift ? Based on your feedback I will see if 195/65/R14 can be considered.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi Guys,

Finally decided to stick to 185/70/R14 for new tyres on my Swift VDi (Older version). Currently I'm running on Michelin XM1+ 185/70/R14 and clocked 44,000 KM till now. I'm looking for good performance oriented tyres in this size. Can somebody suggest good tyres ? How about MRF ZLO ?

Thanks,
Prabhu

I saw your other post too. A drive is not performance Tyre. Its same as xm2. they are more of everyday use all weather ones. Rough and tough yet are better than usual mrf or Goodyears

Zlo is one of the vfm performance tires and cost in the range of a drive/xm2 but if you want big brands you should be good with Michellin primacy lc or say yoko c drives. Since i was never looking for anything beyond 5k i settled for a drives

I couldn't find the Michelin Primary LC or Yoko C Drives in 185/70/R14, No information available on their website. Please suggest.

I guess you are right. 185/70 R14 has regular tyres mostly.

For everyday use, A-Drives, XM2 or Acceleres will keep you happy(Infact you have used XM+ already) . But dont call any of them performance tyre

Check this website : changemytyre.com
You can get quotes for almost all sizes and all brands. With a reputed dealer you can get even 100-150rs less sometimes

Any reason why you decided to change back from your 195 aspirations ? There are many in this forum who drive their swift with 195 profile tyre. Yes your mileage might take some more hit, but then you drive a diesel unlike me with petrol Swift

I like 195 as it is wider, I dropped it out because I have no idea on comfort levels of both 195/70/R14 and 195/65/R14 sizes. Both have acceptable levels of variation in speedometer and diameter from the stock tyres 165/80/R14 based on 1010tyres.com. But I believe mounting 195/70/R14 on my existing 14' alloys should not change comfort levels a lot. I'm looking for performance oriented tyres and ready to compromise a bit on comfort and FE. Can you comment on 195/70/R14 and 195/65/R14 on alloy wheels, based on you feedback I will reconsider my decision. Also let me know the good performance oriented tyres in 195. Thanks in Advance.

I can't comment on wider 195 Tyre because i have only heard about them and never driven a swift with 195 profile

I think you can wait for few days for the gurus to comment

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I am running 195 / 55 / 15 on my swift vdi. I have kumho ecsta tyres. The grip level is very good with very low tyre noise. The comfort level is also very acceptable. I could have even gone with a 60 profile as there are never more than 2 people in my car. They might rub on a full load on rough roads though. In terms of size , go with 195 with 15 inchers. Decide the profile according to your requirements.

Hi,
Anyone know how long a set of Yoko C Drives might last generally? 35000km?... 45000km?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Bigron, I don't want to change my existing 14 inch alloys(Maruti Alloys that come with Ritz ZDI). Please suggest between 195/65/14 and 195/60/14, also the best brand in this profile which can offer good performance oriented tires for my swift vdi.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

A 60 profile should do good. You could go with either the Michelin XM2 or the Yoko A drives. I would even recommend the Kumho Ecsta for that matter. Frankly , all the tyres I mentioned will give you comparable performance in everyday use. Pick any.

1010tires.com gives a diameter Difference of 4.84% for 195/60/R14 when compared with stock 165/80/R14 which is beyond the acceptable limit, I think
60 profile may not workout.

Based on this I have to choose between :

195/70/14
195/65/14

I have no idea about the these profiles on swift. Please suggest.

Go with 195/65/14 Yoko A drives. You should not be disappointed.

re: Maruti Suzuki Swift : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

hi,

I want to change my JK Tyre to new set of tyre.

I short listed few tyres which are as under. (tyre size: 185x70xR14)

1. Yokohama A-Drive
2. Continental ContiEcoContact 3
3. Bridgestone Turenza AR10/Potenza My01
4. Michelin XM2

my priority is comfort, low road noise and handaling.

from all of these which one is good for me?
