205/50 R15 tyres going out of production?

I need help on sourcing 205 50 r15 tires. Spoke to Madhus in Bangalore and they are saying that only S drives are in production now. Then i spoke to Siva tires on Bridgestone and Brdigestone has stopped production of that size. Do i have to rely only on grey market options?

Can you let us know your car make and model. That would help people check in thier stores nearby.

I recently got Bridgestone 205 one in Chennai, but do not remember the configuration number fully.

What all options do we have for 205/50 R15 as i am also looking for one. I checked the Michelin Site and it didnt have tyre for that size. Could find Yoko Advan, Neova and S Drives and BS GIII. Can someone let me know which one of these are the best suited for a OHC Vtec 2001 Model. If the websites are featuring it, it should be available.

Re: 205 50 r15s going out of production??

205/50 R15 has always been a grey market tyre; well, atleast most of them. AFAIK, no car sold in India has this size as stock.

And what's wrong with the grey market anyways? As long as it's a recent-build (not too old) tyre from a reputed dealer, I have no problems with the deal at all. Speaking from experience as the rubber in my OHC Vtec (and several other cars) has been from the grey market.

In fact, if I've add a problem with tyres, it's been the cheap local stuff (starting with the horrible Good Years on my Civic).

Re: 205/50 R15 tyres going out of production?

i have to second on this thread. i an running 195/50 on my car and faced difficulty findings these too. not sure if its the 50 profile that an odd number here in India but its just a side-wall ratio so not sure why nobody seems to have this. they have 45 and 55 but no 50. checked in a lot of stores and Madhu's as well.

i had to settle for s-drives myself coz those were the only ones available. i have it on good authority that Continental CPC2 are still in stock in Pune with Darshan Tyres in case anyone needs them.

on a side note, i have 3 good Continental CPC2 195/50/15 tyres lying at home from my last tyre change. i could not find a matching fourth coz i had one tyre cut by a stone so in case anyone wants these, you're most welcome.

Re: 205/50 R15 tyres going out of production?

Would 205 / 55 R15 or 205 / 55 R16 be a better bet for an OHC Vtec. Asking this question, especially to GTO who has owned the Vtec and because these are the only specs available for Apollo Accelere and i am thinking of these as i am getting some 20% discount on these through a buddy who works at Apollo. My city speeds are between 80 - 100 KMPH and not more than 140 on the expressway.

Would there be a need to change or modify the suspension setup with the above spec tyres.

Thanks
Raj
