@Mods - I did not find any thread on the tyre updates for Etios or Etios Liva and hence starting a new thread.

Hi Team,

Would like to know your inputs on the tyre upgrade for the Toyota Etios Liva G.

G version comes with 175/65 R14 tyres (Goodyear tyres).

Need input of 2 options.

1) Tyre upgrade with 14 inchers

2) upgrade to 15 inchers (with change of rims to 15 inchers as well)

which ones suit the best for a balance between comfort and grip with low noise levels for both the scenarios

Note Liva V variant comes with 185/60 R15. This spec has very less choice, the only one I found was Yoko A drives around 4500 a piece.

Hey nkrishnap first off congrats on your pick.

I am pretty sure you would have done this, but if you check the "Tire Size Calculator", 195/60/R14 fits perfectly to your tire upgrade bracket.
I am not sure if this would cause any power issues on Liva, but let me tell you that this offers the best of both worlds - COMFORT & GRIP.
I have this combination under my Getz now for nearly 2 years and just love the comfort and grip this offers. Moreover, you will surely have more options to choose from in this tread size.

As a thumb rule for upsize, the perfect fit is mostly always two steps up on width, one down on profile if rim size is unchanged. This will provide more grip with near same comfort as sidewall height is negligibly reduced

The Liva G version comes with 14 inchers. In the 14 inchers the choices are quite many. However the moment, I look at 15 inchers, for 185/60 R15, the choices are limited, or rather none except bridgestone. I do not want go further down on the profile. However, the 195/60 R15 seems to be too much of an upgrade.

Now very confused to stay with 14 inchers or upgrade to 15 inchers. 14 inchers XM1+ Energy seems to be a default choice for me

Can someone point out the options in sizes and brands which can used on the Liva.
And which are the stock Goodyear tires? I read somewhere that they are Dura plus but it is nowhere written on the tyres.
How much can i expect for the stock ones which are run 1K for exchange of new ones.

Toyota Liva comes with 175/65R14 or 185/60R15.
175/65R14 rolling radius = 291.55mm
185/60R15 rolling radius = 301.5mm

As the difference between the two is more than 3%, I wonder if the speedometer and odometer are appropriately caliberated on different variants that come shod with these tyres as standard?

If you have 175/65R14, your upgrades could be:
185/60R14, 185/65R14, 195/60R14 (keeping the 14" rim)

If you have 185/60R15, your upgrades could be:
195/55R15, 195/60R15, 205/55R15 (keeping the 15" rim)

What are the tire brand i should look for i mean the Michelin XM+ , Bridgestone ER300 etc.
And thanks a lot for letting me know the sizes of the tires that can be fit.
What I will be looking for in a tire is Grip and lots of it.Plus a good tire life.
I guess the Bridgestone Potenza might fit the bill though not sure.Would like someone to help me with it cause I am new to all this.

What is the PCD of Liva GD? Any uncommon PCD like the fiats? Or standard stuff fits?
I plan to get 14" alloys, and keep stock tires.

I just checked, Its 100pcd 4 bolt. Are you happy with the 175 handling? I was considering going to 195-60-15 with alloys.

175-185 is great. No need to go wider. Wide ties may foul with the wheel Wells

Finally its time to change the shoes. Have used the stock tyres that came with my Alto upto 60k kms (which was not a very good idea). Now this was a couple of years ago. The Alto is long gone and replaced with Etios VD.
Now that i'm a Tbhpian, I know the right time to change the tyres! Most of the threads suggest a tyre change at 40k kms or 5 years, whichever is earlier, so wanted to push the stock Bridgestone Turanza's ER300 upto 50k kms. Fortunately or unfortunately, hit a pothole doing 100 kmph on the Pune Satara Highway last month. Had checked the tyres then, but recently saw a bump on the sidewall of one of the front tyres. Also, the ODO is now at 48500 kms. So a tyre change is inevitable. After researching the forums, have zeroed in on the Yokohama 195/60 R15 C drive. The stock tyres are 185/60 R15 Turanzas. I had just two punctures till now, and the tyres have performed really well. But given the NVH levels in the etios, would prefer to go for a better tyre. Would the experts recommend going ahead with the yokos?

Just a thought, since at 48,500 km you are used to the NVH level of Etios, why not try Turanzas again? You can be assured till 97,000 km on your ODO.

Yokohama C drives are also excellent tyres but with only one complaint, soft side wall which is prone to get damaged if you hit a pot hole at speed.

You can wait for a few weeks when Bridgestone is launching Turanza AR20.

It was so much easier to change tyres before joining TBHP!
Went to Reliance Autozone and Darshan Tyres near Karishma society in Pune. Reliance guys quoted Rs. 5375 for Yokohama C Drive 190/60 R15. Total comes to Rs. 21500 for four tyres, less 500 for my old tyres, so final pinch is Rs 21,000, they will do the balancing but not the alignment.
Darshan Tyres guy gave me a quote of Rs. 21,300 for the Yokos, with alignment and balancing. Sealed the deal at Darshan Tyres and was waiting for the tyres to arrive from the godown. The guy at Darshan called up someone to reconfirm if the upsize would fit and pat came the reply,"Dont fit 190/60 as the tyre would touch the wheel well while turning". Deal on hold, and back here to reconfirm the fit. Can you check if the tyres are not touching the wheel well in any position?
Also, AR20's not in stock as of now.
