Muchos Gracias

@ All -- About the car and the looks - thanks, MUCHOS GRACIAS!!! very very happy!!!!

I consider it a job well done when it is appriceated by TBHP folks!!!

@ Rehaan -- you may be correct!! Frankly I never heard of them before and was not able to source any information on it from the net..... did get me a little concerned. I got these from 'Wheelocity - Rd # 10 Jubliee Hills, Hyd'. I'll get a detailed review over the next few weeks.

But so far, they have handled brilliantly (at least when I compare it to the puny stock175 x 65 x 14 on the GETz CRDi), the car corners really well, the stance and the surety provided is pretty good. I've absoultely loved the drive in the down-pour last few days in Hyd.

@ Rehaan -- I'm not sure what you mean by 'Break-Away' and that being 'Silent' - can you elaborate? Also can you tell me what would the life of these things be based on your experience?

@ ALL -- I've notice a slight play in steering after getting these tyres, is this expected when you move to broader tyres?? Are there any corrective techniques.

Yes, when you go for broader tyres, in relative terms, as in say you have broadened the tyres on the same wheels, you can expect steering play, actually its not steering play per se, but its a pseudo feeling due to 1) sidewall flexing and/or 2) extra friction/resistance caused by the broader tyres.

You can rectify by these #1. going back to narrower tyres #2. Going for broader wheels, as the case may be.

But take care of one thing, if your wheels width = 80% or more of your tyre width already, please don't go for either #1. or #2. because you are gonna have a very, very harsh ride.

Thanks Rehaan for the info on the XMF Sport tyres.

@ TurboLover - (OT - I always wondered which part of your handle is the noun and which is the adjective! ) 'Break away' is the point where there is no grip (under hard braking/cornering) i.e. your tyres stop holding the road, result = slide, skid etc. What Rehaan is telling us is that these tyres give no warning before they break-away, some tyres give a squeal or a shriek, sometimes just a small chirp. The sound (or other feedback) tells the driver that the tyres are at their limits, if they are silent - there is no sound to warn the driver that the tyres are nearing the limits and about to throw up their hands!

Cheers,

@Turbolover - Amazing wheels. The design and colour are hot!

As Rehaan has pointed out, these tyres were discontinued. Did anyone notice that the manufacture XXXX on the tyre is 3301.
I suggest you exchange them IMMEDIATELY!

Turbolover/Ravveendrra,
They are fun tyres! Great grip -- but you really gotta watch out because break-away is really SILENT and sudden! Especially in the wet!!!
The thread pattern seems quite aggressive. You confirm that they have good grip but what did you exactly mean by Break-away is silent and sudden? not so grippy in wet?

Sprucegoose,
You need to choose better backgrounds to shoot the car

And some close up pics would do justice to this thread

Nice alloys spruce.
Is 205/50R15 the right size.
Shouldn't it be 195/50R15.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but these tyres were replaced more than a year back.
Actually they were discontinued at least 5 years back if not more. I haven't seen a MXF manufacture post '03.

At the time i bought them, i could only find information on the Michelin Austrailia site.

As Ravveendrra has mentioned - by silent break-away i meant that there is verrry little noise (screeching/squealing) from the tyres as they reach their limit, just before they break traction / "break-away" from the road. So you don't get much of a warning!

I was impressed. Buying "sport" tyres i didn't have high hopes, but i ran these things for a good 40-50k-km if i remember right!

Good catch ankit!!

To quote from the "Choosing the right tyres" article :

The fresher the tyre you buy, the better. Try not to buy tyres that are older than 6 months, and definitely nothing older than a year.
...
So 3301 (mid-2001) is REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY old stock!!! 8 years old!!!!!

Even the tyres i bought in 2003/04 were NEWER!! (0403)!

You've been taken for a ride by these wheelocity guys :
1) Paying a decent price for old & discontinued stock
2) Being sold 8yr old tyres which is a safety concern (google for more info?)
