Correction : I helped you by preventing you from picking the hyper black finish of the AVA RS GT ! It had black center and spokes with silver lip. I pushed for the machine finish silver that you ended up buying !

the one we selected is hyper black. the other one, which i almost selected, was the normal black. the other one you're referring to, which you got for your friend, is hyper silver, but Akash didn't have it in stock!

New magwheels on my Santro

Hi Guyz,

After driving my stock tyres for 72000 KM in past 6 years, I had to change them because it was getting unsafe. Out of 5, I had changed 2 earlier after 40000 KM, but rest of the three were going fine. Since I had a pretty good experience with Bridgestone, I did not change to Yokohama or Michelin. Wheels, which were also not looking good after getting hit in several potholes and car (read speed) breakers also asked for my immediate attention. I was thinking of HR, NEO...also selected some models from Plati website, but found the models are not available which I have selected. So, went to JC Road to check whats there and found a few good options. I also visited Hot Tracks on my way, but they gave me a package of 44K, which exceeded my budget. Selected EVO chrome plated 13 inch Mag wheels finally from Car and Style and got 5 new Bridgestone Potenza GIII 175/60/13 Tubeless tyres. Total came around 32K/- after exchanging my old wheels and tyres and got a pair of front seat head rests as gift. I was not sure about adding suspension struts. But many of you might agree that Santros rear suspension is not up to the mark and with a full load it almost goes down. The stock tyres come like 155/65/13. Though I could see a decrease in aspect ratio, I thought lifting the suspension by 1.5 inch spacers will make the broader tyres look better. It cost me another 1500 bucks to get it done from JC road again, and also got 4 new broad mud flaps from Sparco which came around 500/-. Already drove to Chikmagalur, next week driving to Munnar. So far its been a nice ride. I can feel better road grip and can drive easily over the new potholes created by BWSSB in Bangalore .The official alloy wheel show-off thread. Take my word bro, it really looks much better without any badges.

I have debadged mine completely and have just stuck something that I would want for real some day, under the hood!!

As for the Alloys, its itching me big time to upsize them, but I am unable to decide if I should go for FFE first or the Alloys!!

Here are some pics of my Getzy in case you want some idea.

why did you put spacers? You have made a tallboy more unstable and it will sway more now.
I have been running 175/60/r13 Potenza g3 on a santro for last 4 yrs. They are the max possible size but don't touch the body anywhere. the rear tires don't touch with 5 people onboard and the front on full turns is also fine.

you don't need spacers and i would suggest removal.

re: The official alloy wheel show-off thread. Lets see your rims!

Thanks UM, its true I am bit experiencing the sway...will remove them if I find the drive uncomfortable. For the time being its running smooth. But previously with full load I used to experience a metallic sound which I am not sure whether the exhaust pipe used to get hit with the rear suspension. So, I thought of the spacers, but will keep a close watch on the sway as you suggested.

re: The official alloy wheel show-off thread. Lets see your rims!

Saw the below beautiful alloys in my office today on a i20. Were looking amazing.

Yokohoma- 205/55 R15 and EVO GTR Sports(?)

Can the gurus let me know the reliability of these alloys (strength, rusting, etc) and how much do they cost approximately? Attachment 599969

I am sure that's the exhaust pipe which was making the sound. I was also experiencing the same sound in my Santro (With stock tyres and rims) and when I took it to A.S.S for a detailed checkup, they found that the exhaust pipe was touching the axle on some uneven roads. They simply bent a bit and now the irritating sound has gone forever, no matter how bad the road is.

re: The official alloy wheel show-off thread. Lets see your rims!

Thanks Repsol. Guyz, one thing I want to mention here, I had a pretty bad experience with Car and Style in JC Road. Since, I had no prior experience in buying tubeless tyres, I visited Bridgestone India website and chose S322 for my Santro. I asked for the same in Car and Style and they bought me five new tyres fitted on the mags. I checked the model S322 and I was happy. They gave bill for the tyres, it was not a Bridgestone bill, it was their own shop bill with all the tyre details mentioned clearly. When I went to Bridgestone dealer in BTM Layout, Water Tank he pointed my to the tyres and told me I am cheated. I asked him and he said though I had asked for S322, it comes in both tubeless and with tube. The guy has given me a tube type tyre and he has removed the tubes !!! He showed me that it is clearly written on the side walls that it is a tube type tyre and not tube less. I got furious, came back home and lodged a complaint in Bridgestone India website about this. They called me up next day and told me to go to C&S, if they dont immediately replace the tyres with tubeless then Bridgestone will investigate and cancel the dealership of the tyre shop from which C&S got the tyres. I rushed next day and they had nothing to say but "Sorry, galti ho gayee !!!" and they changed the tyres to Potenza GIII. Initially they were nagging that the tyres have gone old!!! and they can return me 3000/- bucks and new tubes fitted in...but I was too adamant and told them to give me Potenza in the same price (18K for 5). Thought of going to Consumer Court...but anyways, I am still trying to forget this :(

^^Somehow these looks smaller for 17", could be the angle of the image. Why there is no center caps on the alloys, have you taken those off intentionally?
