Switched to MOMO 15" alloys along with 205/55/15 continental tyres. Had been running steel rims and stock 175s on my Rapid ambition for nearly 4 years and such a leap in tyre size has brought significant road grip and braking. The initial run in period was a little scary but did wheel balancing and alignment twice in the first 1000 kms just be sure and all good post that. Bought the MOMO alloys from the authorised dealer in Bangalore, but thru Tyre empire at Whitefield. I went with continental CPC2 since the reviews in T-BHP were very positive. Hi, is this car yours? I have a few questions..
1. How is the ride quality on 17s?
2. 215/45 has a larger error than 215/40, any reason for picking the former over the latter?
3. 215 seems very wide for a 1.2, is there any perceivable dip is acceleration and mileage?

Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions, I'm confused if I should go for 17s or stick to 16s. Your car looks great! Would love a few more pictures

Why is the rear-end felt like it is raised higher than normal? The Tyre and wheel arches don't sync.

Is it photo angle or it is like that?!

I think it's because the driver is seated inside. Isn't that a worn seatbelt visible through the front window?

Hi Suraj,

Thank You. It's my friend's car, I will try to get more pics from him, also pass on your good words.

I would say the ride quality and comfort is terrible with stock shocks. We may feel better with a suspension upgrade, but considering Indian road conditions I don't expect a huge difference. I never had a chance to drive a Polo TSI running on 17" wheels and upgraded suspension. You may need to consult with someone who runs on an upgraded suspension setup to get a clear picture on this. 215/45/R17 is the most commonly used upgrade size on Polo's, so it is recommended by most shops here, and TSI or TDI is not a consideration here :(

Yes, 215 section tyres will surely affect car's performance, steering and car feel heavier. I really felt the car slower than my Polo TSI which runs on 205/55/R15 and a custom exhaust setup.

I was planning for 17" wheels, but after driving two different Polo TSI's running on 17" inch this week I would recommend you stick with 16"

Even if you are going for 17" inch wheel choose a really lightweight alloy and good suspension setup.

Wow man, looks brilliant. Has changed the stance completely. Smart idea as well. Instead of spending tons of money on expensive custom alloys, you can just go to a competent paint shop to get the job done. I personally like black alloys and this is a very inexpensive way to achieve the look.

If anyone has any recommendations in Bangalore, do let me know!

I remember doing exactly this on my Ikon. Two were Bridgestones and two were GoodYears. I had spray painted the rims black (didn't get matt black at the time so went with shiny). Used a chrome ring as an insert on the rims. The white painted letters definitely enhanced the looks. I wish my brother knew driving then so i could actually have looked at wheels while he drove

Here's a link to my gallery. The painted decals on tyre can't be seen unfortunately but the rest of mods are noticeable.

how much do these Sparco Pista wheels cost. Last I heard, some 17" models were running close to 6 digit marks.
