Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

Hello All,
I have 195/60/15 ZLO on my 2008 swift. These are the best ones in the price range. I can say better than any other brand, as similar design and performance in any other international brand will cost more.
The braking, cornering, and stability and wet grip, everything is great. These are not absolutely silent, but they are not noisy too.
My swift has run 140000, and last 30k have been on ZLOs.
The advantage of buying these are they are Indian too

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

As of now, no specific reviews. Some of the customers using it are happy but no reviews as such. No comparisons as such.

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

I was at the local MRF dealers' for wheel alightment/balancing and was generally asking about the tyre price, even though my tyres are looking good enough for another 10K kilometers. The dealer heaped praise (of course, he would) on the new ZSport and recommended these when I change the tyres next. Anyone has used these, esp. the Linea owners? I asked him about the difference in the width (Linea recommends 195 while the min on ZSport is 205, but he said I could change the tyres without changing my rims. Is this true?

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

On the Linea, you can go up to 205/55-15 without a problem. However, ride comfort gets worse, ground clearance gets worse. Grip will be better though.

Personally I dont think 205/55-15 is justified on a Linea. My suggestion would be a good tyre in 195/60-15 itself.

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

Hi Nikhil,
I had recently posted a query on tyres for Getz on a different thread! Thought, i could ask the same here as well!

I had recently purchased a used Getz GL (1.3l) from a friend! The stock tyres are 155/80R13. The car is currently running terribly used Bridgestones (B250 tubeless) and MRF (tube type-forgot the model!).

I really need to change tyres. My options included A Drives, Earth 1, B250, Amazer 4g and recently Falken Sincera got added to the list! Suggestion from other members have helped me choose 175/70R13 over 155/80R13.

Now, when it comes to the make/model, i have ruled out A Drive on the account of certain side wall issues raised by members here (certain roads in my area are pretty bad!), and i doubt if Earth 1 is available in the size i am looking for! So, it boils down to Bridgestone/Falken/Apollo..

Quite confused here, since all except the Falken seem to get mixed reviews, and the one common review i got on Falkens is that they are rather new, but they do look to be good!!! I hope to hear from you guys to help me sort my confusion here! Thanks in advance!

Go for 175/70-13 but choose between the Earth 1 and apollo. Very well prices and wonderful tyres overall. B250 is an entry level tyre aimed only at long life. That is why it comes as OEM.

thanks for that!
one last query, which one would you suggest between earth 1, and michelin xm2?! i was quoted a price of 4100 approx for the earth 1 and 4600 for the xm2!

also, are earth 1 tyres available in 175/70R13? the site mentions only 14 and 15", whereas the dealers seem to have stocks of 155/80R13 but not the 175s in 13"!!

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

Experts help required:

I am running on ZLO 185/70/14 and I am planning to change to Earth 1 185/65/14. Does this mean a reduced ground clearance of 18.5 mm (from 170 to 151.5 mm )

Please help. I can not take that big a hit on GC, specially on Gurgaon roads.

Thanks

This will mean GC reduction of 9.25mm i.e. 5% (reduction in aspect ratio) of 185mm (tire width).

I think the side wall will reduce by 9.25 mm, but overall reduction in diameter will be 18.5 mm. I want to be wrong in this case!

Yes, sidewall will reduce by 9.25mm and so will GC of your car. Think about it, GC will be impacted by reduction in sidewall not overall diameter of the tyre.

EDIT - adding a picture to clarify the point. Reduction in GC will be equal to reduction in tyre sidewall at the ground point, not both ground and top point. (pic source carbibles.com).

Re: MRF ZLO Performance Tyres

I need to upgrade tyres on my laura (205/55 r16), i am thinking of going a size up to either 205/60 or 215/55. My primary requirement is good ride and low noise. I have Pirelli P4 available at good price, however seeing this thread i am ready to give this a shot. Would it be worth going to MRF or anyone could suggest anything else?

Nikhil, I went with your recommendation of ZLO and so far very happy with the choice. But the tires after 55K kilometers need to be replaced.

I visited local tire dealers over the weekend and find the Yoko DB and Earth-1 to be in my budget. As I understand the Earth-1 will last longer, but DB will be better performer. But I also hear that the DB has a very soft compound and sidewall. Now, how does this compare with the ZLO? Is the DB softer than the ZLO or on par?

Another note is I am considering upsizing a bit to 65 profile.
