I am planning to buy i10 kappa and also planning to upsize the tyre with alloy wheel.

With following info I collected, I am confused to which I have to select..

i10 comes with:
155/80 R13 Bridgestone/MRF (people suggesting bridgestone if stock is OK), stock wheel width is 4", Rim width is 5.5" (is it?)

recommended upsize:
* 175/70 R13 michelin XM1 (what is the deal) - for 5j alloys.
* autocar recommends 165 or 170. Which good brand of tyre suits for it?
* bridgestone Potenza G III - 175/60/R13 - for 5.5j alloy
* anything else?

Can anyone, experienced on this, please suggest me the good one?

It may be a basic question, but sorry for asking it. What is 5j or 5.5j in alloy?

Why don't you try 175/65/R14?
Enough tread width and more bling with the 14"s.

Will 14" alloy & 175/65 tyre suit for i10? Is not there any technical problem? Advice please..

I just checked with HMP, Chennai for 13" alloy. 4 numbers of 13" alloy are costing me Rs. 20.5K

I think it is far better to go outside to fit alloy (13” or 14”) and to do upsize the tyres. Need advice.

Anyone knows where can I get good alloys and tyres in Chennai?

I was looking through Hyundai UK site and saw that the i10 sold there comes with 14" Alloy wheels.
There has been much talk of our Indian i10 not being able to take 14" wheels because they rub against the side wall.
Are the export versions of i10 having a different side wall moulding that allows the larger wheel?
Is it possible to source that export side wall and retrofit to the Indian version?

Yes. You are correct Mr. Raja

In UK, it comes with 165/60 R14
And the automatic version comes with 175/60 R14

I too have the same doubt now. Whether i10 indian version is fine with 14" alloy?

Is anyone knowing any difference in design or side wall of i10 between indian and UK models?

Khudo,

15" alloy???

For my i10, actually I am planning of 13" (especially 175/70 R13) and thinking of 14" but I didn't even think of 15" size. Need the experts view whether there will be any technical flaws with 15".

me too getting a kappa. when I did the test drive I felt the stock tires needed more traction.

Checked with a tyre guy I know for upsizing to 175 r13 or r14, but he says that they have issues with tyre touching, He suggested 185/55 r14, but he also agreed that it will be bad when driven in pot holes.

If I need to put a bigger tyre, i will need to change the rim, and spend 25k (20k alloys + tyres xm1) . But what do I get, more traction (185) but less comfort.

I want first reliability, comfort and then added traction / handling. what to do ?

Really confused, thinking of keeping the stock till some solution is got.

Red dream,

Which brand of alloy you are taking here for 20K? Have you inquired any other brand and price?
