I was thinking of doing the 175/70 R13 upgrade too on the car but the problem is that the wheel is only 4"!! I don't think I would suggest anyone to fit a 175 section tyre on the standard rim.

I have the 175/70 tyres on the standard rim, and know that it is below the minimum 4.5" required, with the ideal width being 5.5". This has been on my mind for the last 15 days, but was waiting for the new year before I can do anything about it!

Some options:
-> I think the Getz Prime 1.3 comes with 175/70 profile tyres, so maybe I can exchange the i10 rims with the Getz rims. If this works, this should be a cheaper option.
-> The dealer has said he should have the company alloys by the 1st week of January. I think this would prove a very costly option.

With your present set-up the tyre life will come down. The tyres are very wide in relation to the rim width, meaning that there will be much higher sidewall deformation. There is also a danger of the tyres coming off the rims in case you hit a pothole/kerb or in case of under-inflation. So it is advisable to get wider rims as soon as possible.

I personally would go for company-supplied alloys. This is the safest, if expensive option. After-market is fine, but you need to find alloys that will be a good fit in terms of PCD and offset, otherwise you may end up with all kinds of problems. I am not sure if Getz rims will fit the i10. My suggestion is to check directly with Hyundai (unfortunately I found that even the authorized dealers know very little about tyres and wheels).

Slightly off topic. DOes anyone know what is the rim size of Getz 1.3?

Also the Getz 1.1 (and older Getz 1.3 GLE) come with 155/80. So wud be right for Getz 1.1/1.3 GLE owners to upgrade to 175/70 XM1?

I think i10 has 13 x 4.5j 100 PCD rims. Will confirm in a day or two.

am planning to talk to the dealer today to check if he has the alloys, and how much he is quoting for them. will try talking to the service center to see if the Getz Prime wheels would fit.

@rks: thanks for the advice! am waiting for either the company alloys to reach the showroom (these were not available in December).
@kpzen: did you get a chance to find out about the PCD of the i10? am hoping to get out of the current set ASAP.

an update: I called up the showroom and he says the alloys haven't come as yet. So that is ruled out.

I went to the service centre and spoke to a couple of people there. They didn't have a clue if the Getz rims would fit. After a series of phone calls, I was asked to talk to their Bridgestone contact. He said "Saab 1/2 inch width kam hain - uska koi problem nahin hoga". Hmm!

So I guess the only option is after-market alloys, unless kpzen/iraghava can find out if the Getz rims would fit perfectly. What would be a good set of alloys (not just the make, but also specific model numbers)?
