My stock tyres are good year GPS2 and have gone totally bald for 45K. For a few KMs I drove today, the drive is a sea change I dont feel the undulations much, the stock tyres had quite a road feedback.

I have a palio stile 1.6. I have upgraded from 175/65/R14 to 185/65/R14. It costed me 5025/tyre. All inclusive with 3 year warranty, fitting and balancing, alignment. I have got the valves changed too for the same price - the salesman quoted 100/valve additionally with 3 year warranty. I am not good at bargaining, if you are - you might get a better deal.

I got it done at Michelin Tyre Plus store on varthur road - opp palm meadows. They apparently have a store in HSR Lyt 27th main too. Good luck

Good show Chakri! Join the club of happy Michelin owners. From my experience the Michelins ride better after a little break in time. Not sure why this is so but mine seem to have settled down after a couple of months. Just did some highway driving over the weekend and it was smooth as a carpet ride!

Congrats chakri. I upgraded to XM 2 in may last year and have run 25000 kms so far. I couldn't have been happier or more satisfied with the performance and feel of the tyre. There has been no punctures so far (touch wood) and the ride is still smooth and supple as it had been on the first day.

I remember having had to put a tube on my stock tyres at the same stage due to punctures. My stock tyres were 175/60 R14, MRF

Yes i had 185/70/r14 on swift.. But for Amaze what is the recommended upsize... 185/65/ R14 or 185/70/R14.. Both available in XM2.

Firstly, the stock size of Amaze you mentioned is incorrect.

The Amaze rides on 175/65-14 tyres as stock.

The right upsize is either 185/65-14 or 195/60-14 max. 195/60-14 is recommended only for top end diesel which has 5.5J rims. The petrol has only 5J so 195/60-14 is close to the limit.

Can I go for 185/70/r14 as well to gain some ride comfort and proabably 5mm of ground clearance.

The original tire size is 175/65R14 that means sidewall height of 113.75 mm and going to 185/70 you will be at 129.5 mm. This is a 16mm increase in sidewall height / ride and it can touch the fenders at full load / full lock. It will also affect the handling negatively and finally will make the speedo show 5% lower speed , i.e. 95 kmph when you are traveling at 100 kmps. Similar error will creep in the odo too...

My suggestion is not to go beyound 185/65 that will anyway give you a clearance boost of 6.5 mm or so

I have been using the XM2 on my Innova for close to 10000Kms now and 'am very happy with the choice. There is an increase in fuel efficiency ( about 1kmpl) and the ride quality is very good.

I had some doubts about the sidewall strength compared to the stock bridgestones. However, these doubts are dispensed last week. My back tyre went over an unsighted cement block while negotiating a turn in a narrow lane. After climbing over the edge of the block the tyre slid and fell, scraping the side wall in the process. My heart sank, fearing the worst. Upon inspection, I was relieved to see that there was traces of cement powder and minor scuff marks on the side wall and no scratches / cuts.

I chose 185/65/R14. Ride comfort is a league above the stocks. I see a light dip in low end torque which I am not liking much. I enjoyed the great low end torque on my stile 1.6 sport. I understand FE takes a hit too when you upsize which is ok for me.

I noticed another thing. I got my pollution check done and the guy was searching all over for the exhaust pipe. It got pushed a bit higher due to increase in the wheel height and is behind the bumper now. Hope that is not much of a problem.

Exhaust location vs. the Bumper would not change with change in tyre size. If it is at a different location vs. other Amaze do get it check out at the ASS.

Your ride should be more comfortable, and ride height would have improved. Speedo error will increase and it will show lesser speed and distance (ODO) than earlier (normally the speedo shows higher speed by default so that will actually correct to near the actual speed, while the ODO is normally accurate and this will show lesser distance. The impact will only be marginal - mainly on FE calculations and on long distance trip distances.
