While I went for a long drive from Bangalore to Goa, at speeds exceeding 120km, I felt the entire car vibrating uncomfortably. When I reached Goa, after two days I found the rear left tyre had deflated.

Replaced it with the stepney and showed the deflated tyre to a tyre mechanic. The punctured tyre had a bulge on the surface and some steel wires were protruding out of the tyre. The tyre was unusable and this bulge as causing the uneasy vibration at high speeds. Since I have been facing issues with punctures in the past few months, I plan to replace all 4 tyres and keep the best one as a stepney.

Am considering between Michelin XM2 185/70/14 and Yokohama Earth-1 185/70/14 . My requirements are less noise, comfort, stability and grip. My running will be mostly in the city with maybe 10-15% on highways. Kindly advise.
Without any doubts you can go with Michelin Energy XM2 185/70 R14 and suggesting this from my own personal experience during last 3-4 months after replacing all 4 stock Goodyear GT3s with XM2s, can't even compare between these 2
Michelins are good for the less noise, butter-smooth on big potholes and the overall confort level has increased tremendously and I feel like I'm gonna be a lifetime MIchelin lover if the durability also gives me a green signal. Have just covered only 8K kms till date and so far all good.!!

I fully agree with you Sir. I have changed from MRF ZLO (195/65 R15) to Michelin XM2+ (195/65 R15).

Is been 32K since I changed and according to the tyre dealer, it has another 30-35K kms life left in it. I regular do Wheel alignment, balancing and rotation in 5K kms intervals and keep monitoring tyre pressures every week.

Such small things enhance tyre life.

I am Michelin customer for life.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Got my 4 tyres changed to Michelin XM2- 185/70/14. I had it done from HSR. The stock Apollo accelere's size was 175/70/14 and had completed 42k kms. After frequent punctures and bulges in 2 tyres, I thought it was time to change.
New tyres cost 4700 per tyre and extra for road force test, alignment, valves and balancing.
Initial feel is good. Tyre noise seems lesser than before and the car is now gliding over potholes/ bumps. Where the acceleres used to send all vibrations to the cabin, XM2 absorbs most of them. It feels like driving on air. Braking also seems to have improved by a good margin.

The shop was recommending Conti CC5 tyres as similar compound as Michelin, since earlier we thought we needed 185/65/14. But stuck to Michelin XM2 as earlier planned. Lets see how it goes.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Had exactly same story of hrman's 2012 Skoda Rapid-Ambition with my 2013 Sunny's JK Vectras at 40K KMS last week when driving from Coimbatore to Chennai. The jerk and wobble due to the hump in the middle of the tire is unnerving at speeds above 50 KMPH. Today changed all 4 with Michelin Energy XM2s. Hoping to get good times ahead.

On the other hand, shocking to see how the OEMs are negligent in choosing good tires as the original option for their coveted (!) vehicles. I was really shocked to hear from my Tire clinic about the defective JK Vectras!

Pic1: Michelin XM2 185/65/R14 on my Figo TDCi at 39500KMs

Pic2: Michelin XM2 185 /65/R14 on my father's Celerio AMT at 6500KMs

The ones on the Figo still look pretty good!! There isn't any deterioration in the ride quality.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Compared to XM1, the XM2s are turning out to be extremely durable.
I've used 2 sets of XM2 on my Getz and both lasted for 50k kms on an average.
Will be getting a new set for Figo in couple of weeks. (Now they are on Yoko A drives which has done 48k kms)

Friend's swift has done 60k and still looks good for another 10k kms. (Pics below)

Guys, how is the comfort level after 25K kms. Does the soft cushioned ride, remain beyond that or does it become hard ?

Some people say that the "Michelin goodness" lasts for only 25/30K. after that the ride is hard and like any other regular tyre.

Haven't observed any drop in ride comfort after 25k kms.
Its been good all through 50k kms for me.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

i have been using Michelin XM2 tyres on my 2011 ANHC since last 4 years. Absolutely fabulous performance. Very happy with the day to day performance:low tyre noise, good grip during monsoons and very low puncture rates. Each set of tyres with proper rotation and alignment gives me at least 60 to 65 thousand km before changing.
The michelin dealer last time had suggested a tyre upgrade(sizewise). So this time might be going for a slightly bigger set of wheels.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Fitted my second set of Michelin XM2s on my Innova last month.
Changed them after approx 45K kms on my previous XM2s.

Quote for a set of 5 XM2s incl wheel alignment and wheel balancing from Ashoka Wheels, Minister Road, Secunderabad.

New Shoes being fitted.

Michelin XM2 205/65R15 - showing tread pattern detail.

Cooling off at lunch on the HYD BLR Highway - ride was incredibly smooth.
Can easily recommend these tyres to anyone. Satisfied customer here.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Planning for getting new XM2s for my Chevy Spark in a couple of days. Will be grateful for recommendations on a good dealer in Delhi/Ghaziabad who does the job well and at a competitive rate. Thanks.

My Fiesta's XM2s have successfully clocked 48500 kms. But now I think I am hearing road noise and feeling a little hardness in handling/ride.

The service guys at Ford told me to run it further. But that was around 3500 kms before.

Is it generally time to go for replacement? I mean, after running them this much, in the zone nearing 50K kms...?

Vip.

If tyres are older than 5 years, please go ahead for replacement. XM2 can last longer than 50k/60k kms but number of years also play a part.

I got them fitted in December 2013 replacing the stock MRF ZV2Ks when my vehicle had an odo reading of 30200 kms. So, the XM2s are only three years and three months old.

In that case they should be good for another 10k kms but do check this with a tyre guy. Everyone has a different driving style so can't be determined how tyres have been used and in what conditions.
