Got my Bridgestone Turenza ER60 replaced with XM2 yesterday for my 2011 Swift Vdi 185/70R14.

The ER60s lasted me around 90K, but the tread was mostly gone. I was so happy with their performance that I wanted another set of the ERs. Unfortunately, these were discontinued by Bridgestone.

I was recommended XM2 as the best alternate. They costed 4500 a piece at BK Tyres, Lajpat, after adjusting the old tyre value. Manufactured 2nd week of Nov 2016.

So far, the 'feel' of the tyre is more or less the same as my old ERs however they are certainly much more quiter.

I just hope these are as resistant to Indian conditions and the odd glass bottles on the road as the ERs were.

I've done 70k on my punto with the same size and tyre, alignment and balancing done at 5k intervals. Two tyres had punctures at the same time with around 12 nails between them, the problem was sorted once the puncture shop near my apartment was shut down.
These tyres are made for Indian conditions.

What is the price of Michelin XM2 145/80/R12 tyres in Chennai, and which is the best place? My Alto tyres are 8 years old though only 38k KM, and my DA feels I should replace them though they still appear good.

I can avail 20% discount through an employee, but want to know if it will still be expensive.

Recently picked up a set of 185/65/14s for the Brio VX AT at 4600 per tyre in Gurgaon. WA/WB included, new nozzles, nitrogen, and also using 0% EMI facility offered by Michelin. Brilliant all round!

Could you please explain the 0% EMI scheme. Is it available at all dealers or at exclusive Michelin franchisees only?

My colleague picked up 4 of 185/65/14 for his Honda Amaze for 17200 with alignment, yesterday. He got 20% off through a Michelin employee reference that will be reimbursed to the dealer by Michelin.

I bought from Zig Wheels Gurgaon. He is Michelin authorised but not exclusive. For the EMI scheme, you can choose to pay from any of about 6-7 cards and choose between 3&6 month tenures. No extra CC charges or interest or processing fees. Dealer told me they are happy offering this coz they don't have to foot the merchant charges on EMI transactions.

I am planning to replace my Mobilio tires with upgraded size 205/ 65 R15 (Innova size). Stock is 185/65 R15. This is mainly to improve the ground clearance which is dismal (Mine being RS model).
Two options on the Michelin website are XM2 and Agilis. I've had XM1+ and XM2 in other cars previously. How are the agilis tires? Or any other brand recommended? would the upsized tires cause any problem?

For such an upgrade, please check if current wheel width is adequate enough. Not aware of wheel/alloy size for Mobilio, else would have calculated it.

These are 'light truck' category tyres and not for passenger car segment.

@sukiwa Thank you for your response. Rim width for current is 5 x 15 - 6.5 x 15. rim width for proposed is 5.5 x 15 - 7 x 15. Not sure but I think Mobilio alloys are 5.5J x 15.
What difference would it make fitting light truck tires? Is it only for SUVs? Would mobilio qualify as pseudo MUV?

Mobilio Alloys is 5.5J.
For upgrade, better to stick with 195/60 R15.

Guys, seriously! Are these tyres made for India?

I replaced my 10,000 KM run Bridgestones with XM2 few days back, and already a blunt object has managed to pierce through the rear right. Needed a double patch in one spot. Hope it holds! Just cant believe my luck.

The tyres are great in terms of quietness, comfort and handling, but the compound should be tougher as we have 'far from perfect roads' in Bengaluru. Think I'll experiment with Yokos, the next time round.

Two years ago I'd gone to mostly put in Michelin XM(whatever number) tyres to replace the old lot, for some reason the dealer kept pushing Yoko Earth's on me.. so much so that I felt he was a closet Yoko dealer who simply happened to have other brands lying around. His argument was that XM simply was not rugged enough for India, although due to its softness it would grip much better and have lesser road noise of the two. I'm always a guy who'd go for reliability as its equally important when its a tyre.. who wants to risk a sidewall damage when driving afterall? Thus far not even a puncture.. dunno if it is luck.

That being said, I do feel it was bad luck with you.. there are countless happy Michelin owners with not much damage to their tyres after 30-40k kms, but due to its super-soft sidewall you must take every precaution henceforth. I also feel sad that even after the extortionate road taxes we pay, we have to fear the fixing of luxury tyres onto our cars because the roads will tear them apart. Michelin tops the list in terms of popularity in most nations.

That's sheer bad luck buddy! Even I hit a rock about 2 months after replacing all 4 tyres to Energy XM2s and damaged the sidewall. The dealer is friend of mine and tried hard for atleast a partial refund, but Michelin denied it. I had to replace it (was given a very good deal nonetheless) soon after.

I still feel it's worth due to the supreme levels of grip and comfort it provides.

PS - Have been using XM2 since about 2 Years/20K KMs w/o any other complaints. No punctures till date as well.

I recently replaced the five Yoko A-Drives tyres of my Honda Brio after running them for about 40,500 kms to Michelin XM2. The A-Drives were over five years old and had developed cracks although there was a lot of usable tread left on four tyres. Over the last year or so had given a lot of trouble. One tyre had 3 punctures in a 2 sq. cm area and had distorted out of shape that it could not be used. .

With an unplanned drive to Pune coming up, I decided to change the tyres to a set of 175/65 R-14 Michelin XM2s after completing the 40,000 kms service and went to a authorized dealer close to home. He showed me the ContiComfortContact CC5 and Michelin XM2 in the OE size of the Honda Brio. I currently have a set of XM2 fitted on my Alto which are close to five years old and have run ~35,000 kms and they have performed well and hence chose the XM2.

850+ kms and a rain-slicked highway drive from Bangalore to Pune, I must say that the tyres perform very well - quiet, grippy with good handling.
