Got my new Swift (and) new footwear!

Hey guys,

Got my new black Swift Vxi on 25-May-06 from RNS. Today 27-May, gave the sexy lady new footwear. Hankook Ventus K102s (195/55 R15) and Plati 15" chrome wheels, to be precise. And man!

Lemme just say that to even state that her looks have so stunningly transformed would be an understatement! Even the dudes at Car Shringar where I got them fit were staring at her for some time! Even passers-by at around 845 pm as I neared my house were looking at the wheels

Black Swift, black windows, chrome wheels and performance tyres - the stuff that makes going to Electronic City for the daily grind worth it!

Will post pics of her as soon as I get the chance! Also, having accepted Vikram's(Car Shringar proprietor) suggestion, I went in for Morel Pulse Coaxials (no amps, no subwoofers - no xtra audio enhancements)- and their sound came the damndest closest to actually having hi-end component speakers Strongly recommend them too, though they are just a wee bit more xpensive than your mundane JBL speakers.

Btw, after my fantastic experience with Car Shringar today, I would strongly recommend him for any of your accessory requirements.

the only flaw in the stock swift's looks is that it looks undertyred, give the car right size rims and tyres and it turns into a looker, congrats for your new ride theMAG .

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but if the Swift comes with 165/80 R14 and 185/70 R14, the ideal upsize would be 195/60 R15. The 195/55 R15 is ideally suited to the Baleno. Please correct me if I am wrong.

His gearing will become a bit shorter now...hopefully that will compensate for the drag generated by wider tyres...
however, what about the ground clearance that also gets reduced now??

Viper,

You are right abt the 195/60 R15s being the perfect upsize for the Swift. However what I discovered during my runup to the tyres upsize was that amongst almost all the major performance tyres in BLR (Goodyear Eagle F1, Michelin Preceda, Hankook Ventus, Yokohama ES100) have 195/55 R15 as the closest match. The only 60s I saw were the 205/60 R15 which is apparently widely available - but not recommended for the Swift.

The only tyres to be avaliable in 195/60 R15 were some Chinese makes like Nanjing etc - also not recommended.

Btw, FYI re: 195/55 R15s being originally Baleno upsize, the Swift Sport wheel size is 16-inch as standard, 17-inchers optionally, shod with 195/50 or 195/45 tyres.

Hey Sleepy,

Thanks- will put the pics up by tomorrow latest !

Plati and BSA wheels are known for their chrome wheels collection. In fact no other established manufacturer comes close to the sheer variety of designs these 2 brands have in chrome.

Since yours is a silver Swift and you live in Chennai (coastal atmosphere), chrome wheels will not suit your car. Your choice of dark wheels is correct and the brand you should therefore by looking at is Lenso. They make only brushed/graphite alloys. Their perfect models for your car - BLAST, MAGLITE, MACH10 and M8S; check them out at http://www.lensowheel.com/ecatalog/.

My really sincere advice/suggestion to you is to NOT put 45 profile 17 inchers for your Swift - her suspension will be ruined man! The 17 inch 45 profilers are intended as an optional upgrade for the Swift Sport - which has a different suspension geometry and will most likely never come to India. The perfect upsize (aesthetically and functionally) for the normal Swift is the 195/60 R15 or if you can't find 60 profiles then 195/55 R15 (what I've done).

Keep me posted on how it goes!

Pics of my Swift

Guys,

Pics of my new Swift in front of our house. The black Swift is mine - with the chrome Plati wheels and Hankook K102s. The azure grey Swift is my friend's with OEM tyres.
We parked our cars next to each other specifically for this visual comparo.

Btw, my Swift still hasnt got number plates yet - should be getting them today!
