Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Mods: apologize for back to back posts, if possible please merge with previous post.

Just saw the new GT TSI. comes with plain Alnacs, not Alnac 4G, as suspected.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Alnac is available in 185/70R14, stock size for Swift Zxi.

The name change from Accelere to Alnac might have more to do with loyalty agreement between Apollo and Michelin rather than being a marketing decision.

I couldn't see that on the Apollo website. the website information could be obsolete. are you positive that the swift ZXi comes with Alnac 4g and not Alnac. I ask, because as I pointed out in my previous post, even Polo comes with Alnac but not the 4G ones.

a screenshot from apollo website. I was quoting from here.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

I'm pretty sure it;s the Alnacs that come as OEM and not the Alnac 4G.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

If you reread my post it says and I quote "Alnac is available in 185/70 R14 stock size for Swift Zxi" which it is, the size being 185/70 R14.

Nowhere have I said "OE fitment"

Hope that removes the confusion.

BTW in case it is of interest more than one Apollo authorised dealers in South Delhi are offering the Accelere also in the same size and they are quoting it Rs.100/- over the quoted price of Alnac4G.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

I had changed all four tyres(205/60 R16) of my SX4 to ALNAC 4G yesterday.

Right after the change, I did a 600 Kms drive to Bangalore. Initial impressions are excellent. Much less tyre noise than earlier Good Year Assurance. I can't judge the comfort levels as it will be better in any tyres just after a change from old tyres. Grip levels are good, it was not bad in good year either.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

So I am considering Alnac 4G for the Altis. Size would be 195/65R15.

How do these fair against Michelin P3STs? I have the latter running on my SX4 and I'm happy with the tyres but they are expensive.

So any feedback on Alnacs would be appreciated.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Hi Guys,

I fitted the Alnac 4G's on my SX4 Zxi in November last year. I am quite happy wit the performance of the tyres so far. Compared to the OEM JK Vectra's they are a huge improvement. Much better grip. Much more comfort. Much less road noise. I paid Rs. 6400 for each tyre.

Regards,
SS

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

I recently replaced the Fluidic Verna stock tyres (Bridgestone B250 195/55 R16) with Apollo Alnac 4G 195/55/ R16 at 46,000 KMS. Two of the tyres had buldge, else I could have used stock tyres for another 3,000 KMs or so

Here is a comparison:

- The light steering of Verna feels better with Apollo, it doesn't feel that light now.
- Road noise is slightly higher on Apollo, but is negligible
- Each Bridgestone tyre is priced Rs. 700/- more than Apollo
- The Bridgestone went flat only once in 46,000 KMs, will take time to realize if Apollo has the same credibility
- If Apollo prove to be credible and can give a life of 45,000 to 50,000 KMs, I vote Apollo over Bridgstone

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

I dont have a long term report. I just had the full set of my WagonR's changed a couple of days ago. Initial impressions are very good...when compared to JK tyres.

I am planning to change all the four tyres of my Linea tjet plus in a week's time. The difference in price between Apollo Alnac 4G and Michelin P3ST is Rs3400 per tyre. Is it worth spending that extra 14000? 70% of my driving is on the higways and I usually drive 15-20K KM every year. Any suggestions?

This is my first post on team BHP. So Hello fellow team BHPians.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

@FamilyTraveller: Long highway drives are much less fatiguing if the tyre noise is low. Do the Alnac 4Gs come close to what the P3STs are in terms of noise/silence?

Quoting my post. One of the Amazer 4G tyres suffered a pinhole puncture within less than 100 kms of purchasing the tyre. I went to the tyrewallah and ran the tyre thru a fine tooth comb. There was no nail, no injury on the sidewall. The puncture occured at the edge of the tread and the sidewall. There is a gradual drop of 1-3 psi everyday. Dunno whether this could be replaced under warranty. Nikhil? Any pointers?

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Helo FamilyTraveller, welcome to the forum.

Do get the P3ST especially since you do highway runs and more importantly because the TJet's wheel well design tends to amplify the tire noise. I have a TJet+ myself shod with Bridgestone Turanza GR90 and while theses are very quite they do make a hmm..ing noise over certain roads where my neighbours Emotion pack riding on P3ST remains quiet.

Having said that 14K is a huge difference and you may already be used to the nose given that you have been driving on the previous tires(assume these are OE Goodyears) so the Alnacs might still be an improvement. Alternatively you can look at Conti Max Contact 5 that has had good reviews especially on the Fiat fan club face book pages, with one group having driven across Leh ladhak just last month on these tires and they reported no punctures, bulges or cuts and a smooth ride for the entire return trip from Bangalore. I think the ContiMC5 will sit somewhere between the A&M. BTW Pirelli is also being very aggressive with pricing for P7 and in another couple of weeks (after Dussera) all companies will bring out their Diwali pricing / schemes.
