Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Hello

I wanted to figure if any of you have any feedback or opinion on the new range of tyres launched by Apollo? Goes by the name of 4G tyres and i am looking at the Alnac 4G for my Cruze.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

It's too early (I think), they've just been launch weeks ago. Besides, general opinion of Apollos isn't very favourable, most BHPians seem to prefer Michelins or Yokohamas.

Maybe you can make your Cruze the test mule and update us with your experience ? Apollo reportedly had a tech tie-up with Michelin, so hopefully they have learnt a few things and incorporated them in these new tyres. I have a set of 205-R16s to be changed , and the prices of 16" rubber vs 15" or less caught me off guard , the Apollos are the cheapest, but not sure the 6.5k average price of Apollos in 16" - while more than 15" Michelins/Yokos, is up to the task.

Thanks Ricci. Precisely why i sought the opinions of people here in the forum, to avoid being the test mule. Leaning towards the Goddyear Assurance rubber for now considering they are in the same price bracket. Will keep you posted

Moderator note: Back to back post, use EDIT post after approval. Thanks.

Rishi 7 - Called a couple of dealers and was quoted prices in the range of Rs 6400 - Rs 6800, however none of them had stocked these tyres.

Update - Could not wait any longer, got a good deal on Goodyear Assurance and bought a set of 4 last Wed. Done a few kms on it and initial impressions are good. Time will tell..

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Thanks I too inquired and was quoted 9400 for aspire 4g as these were only one available in my size in the 4G range.

I too was not too sure to spend so much for Apollo's.

I intead bought Pirelli CINTURATO P7 which I got for 7250 per piece and these are number 5 in the list.

So I think we need to wait a little more for the first review of 4G.

@Rishi

Great, do update after some running as to how good/bad they are. I have some time before I replace my set, so if they're good I'll consider the Apollos then.

Also, pics of your ride with new shoes would be nice !

Not quite sure if I would want to do a new set of Apollo's (with very little reviews) for a trip up the mountains. Leave the 4G testing for something that would take less abuse. For Leh and Ladakh, I would rather choose something that's proven. Go Michelin, Yokohoma or Goodyears.

Thanks, lack of reviews on indian roads is what worries me too or i would not have any second thoughts. how about apollo 3g? its been there for a long time.

I generally go for desi products unless the difference with a foreign one is big.
I went to the market today and the prices for 145/80 R12 tubeless were
apollo 3g/4g - 2000
JK ultima XP - 1750
MRF ZVTS(?) - 2250

am thinking of the apollo 3g for the comfortable ride (and the good performance of aceleres on my other car) but i know the JK/MRF are stronger.

Please tell if you have good experiences on mountains with some specific model of yokohama, bridgestone or michelin.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

The issue with Apollos is that their higher end tyres rarely see the market. The old Acelere Sportz and the Aspire were jsut vapourware. Very very few tyres actually made it out into the market.

The Alnac actually looks like a nice tyre which should on paper mathc the Michelins and Yokos.

Looking forward to the reviews from fellow TBHPians.

Hello Nikhil,

Any idea about the apollo 3g regarding its toughness.
I am changing tyres for my alto and need something strong that can take bad roads (hills) without too much damage. price is same for both 3g/4g - Rs 2000/tyre.

Re: Apollo 4G Tyres, anyone?

Amazer 3G should be quite rugged. It is a mass market tyre.

I have no personal experience or anything.

Any market feedback on the Alnac 4Gs? Pricing seems to be pretty good so any real-world Indian experiences would be great!
