Bridgestone Turanza AR-20 - Launching soon in India

DBHPian Nikhilb2008 has shared the following information about the soon-to-be-launched Bridgestone Turanza AR-20. Sounds like there'll be quite a few sizes to choose from too.

Quote:
This is a new tyre released by Bridgestone in India. It is expected to hit the market this month.

This seems aimed at the mid-segment. It seems to be a comfort oriented tyre. Should last around 40k kms is my guess.

It does seem soft compound but not too soft.

Sizes that have been announced are:

145 80 R12

145 70 R13

145 80 R13

155 65 R13

155 70 R13

155 80 R13

165 65 R13

175 70 R13

155 65 R14

155 70 R14

165 70 R14

165 80 R14

175 65 R14

175 70 R14

185 65 R14

185 70 R14

195 70 R14

175 60 R15

175 65 R15

185 65 R15

195 60 R15

205 65 R15

225 60 R15

No idea about whether all sizes are available at launch.

Cant reveal the pricing but it seems to be priced more or less at the same level as the earlier AR-10. A little above the usual S322/B250 but below the MY02.

Does this mean ER 60 will be discontinued? Could you please mention what is the difference between AR20 and and ER60 series.

That's a huge line up, covering almost all sizes from 12" to 15". (From old model zen to Innova)
If they price it right, its going to sell well.

ER 60 is available. There are a few sizes but Bridgestone wants to focus on the newer patterns.

205/65-15. What a perfect upgrade for the Altis.

I have ER 60 in stock size(175 70 R13) on my Esteem and I am supremely satisfied with them. I will be taking delivery of Figo soon and contemplating an upgrade soon after delivery to 185 60 R14. But then from the list above, this size is not listed. I only see 185 65 R14.

By when would they be in the market?

185/60-14 is not as good for the Figo as the 185/65-14. Get 185/65-14 itself. These tyres may be available this month but maybe not all the sizes.

Re: Bridgestone Turanza AR-20 - Launching soon in India

I am taking delivery of my Polo Highline petrol this weekend. Polo stock tyres are Apollo having size 185/60/R15. I read through some of the polo owners comments in the forum and found Apollos are not good at longer life, noise and worsening ride over time. So wanted to switch to Bridgestone. I spoke to Millivisions in Bangalore about the availability and per them only model available at this size is Turanza ER300 for other models like ER60 or AR10 I will have to up size. VW warranty will void if I up size, which I don't want. How do you rate ER300 compared to the stock Apollo Acelere? Millivision is offering 3000 for Acelere buy back and ER300 price quotation is 4300 per unit. Please help me decide, on whether to change stock or not. My priorities are longer life, good ride quality, less noise and good grip.

Re: Bridgestone Turanza AR-20 - Launching soon in India

Have used the Turanza brand on the Laura as they came as a stock fitment.

Had ended up having a side wall bulge on the 55 section tire, soon around @ 30k kms had switched to the Potenza GIIIs which were much better.

Frankly these would be a great option in the 12, 13, 14" er segment but anything from 15" IMO there are better tires being offered by the competition like Yokohama (dB) & the Michelin (PLC now P3s)

Lets hope the new AR 20 are the improved breed

Re: Bridgestone Turanza AR-20 - Launching soon in India

I have read on the internet that AR 20 is superior to ER60. Is that true ? Nikhil could you please help us clear this confusion ?

It has to be superior. The Er 60 is a much older model. The Ar-20 is newer and designed to replace the ER60. I have heard only good things about the AR-20 from people who are using it.

The sidewall is also reasonably rugged and doesnt seem to be a major issue.

Re: Bridgestone Turanza AR-20 - Launching soon in India

So I went to Darshan tyres on nagar road to check Bridgestone AR20. I was quoted Rs 4300. They also had Michelin XM2 @ Rs 4700.

I favored bridgestone, but the tyres looked narrow despite being the same size as that of XM2.

I think has something to do with the Flat Contact Patch technology used on the bridgestone. I liked the pattern on the AR20 compared to the pattern on the XM2 which was bland.

Please see the pics below of 185/70/R14 XM2 and AR20.

Recently upsized the tyres to Turanza AR-20 on my dzire (old model). Old tyres were stock MRF zv2k, 165/80 - R14. These tyres had very bad grip and comfort. Upsized to AR20, 185/70 R14. Grip has increased tremendously. Ride has got much better, but not in huge leaps. May be due to hard suspension of old swift models.

From where did you buy and what was the cost for each tyres? Also did it include New Neck, Balancing and Nitrogen Filling? I am in the same boat and would have to replace for my Logan.
