Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I am using the Earth 1 tyres 165/70 R14 for close to 2 years now. Biggest advantage is that they don't lose pressure when car is standing still for many days. No bulge issues, no running issues and road noise is less than JK tyres. Old JK tyres (stock version) needed pressure check every 2 months, and they used to leak close to 6-8 PSI on an average. Road noise was also horrible.

Perfect, same here with my car. I got rid of JK Tires and upgraded to Yoko. In fact I upgraded them twice. Any suggestions of better brand that is in India ? I have no problem with Yoko as such but am bored of them especially using them since last 5 years.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I switched to yokohoma earth 1 215/60 r17 from jk ux royale in my brand new creta sx(o).
What i noticed :
Pros:
1: Superior handling capability(can take corners at 100 kmph)
2: Solid built
3: Stiff sidewalls give you confidence of driving in bad roads
4: Good wet grip

Cons :
1: Extremely harsh ride quality
2: Braking distance is greatly increased
I switched back to ux royale after driving these for a day.
If you want a tough rubber that can go anywhere, not lose air and lasts long, go for it.
But if you want comfort and braking performance , avoid it.

The Michelins are great tires. They will give you a silent and plush ride as the tires are quite soft. Better suited for city driving in my opinion.

The Yoko Earth1s are heavy duty tires, and are probably made of a harder compound. As a result, the ride is not super silent like the Michelins, and you will hear some road noise. But the tires are like rocks. They don't puncture easily, and tolerate our dirt roads much better. I've been using them for the past year on my i20, and am very satisfied.

Also, Yokos offer 'Unconditional warranty'. I had a sidewall balloon after 6 months of purchase when I had hit a pothole at quite some speed. Tire was replaced under unconditional warranty, no questions asked. Earlier, this type of damage would not have been covered under warranty. I have posted about my experience in the Tire warranty thread.
I'm not aware of Michelin warranty program.
I also got rid of OEM (MRF) tyres (after 42000 km) and got them replaced with Yokohama Earth-1 (175/65/14 H-82, INR 18350 including, new Italian valves, wheel alignment and balancing) in September 2020 during lockdown. After reading a lot in Team-BHP, i went to Lokmanya Tyres to get Michelin tyres. But looking at my city use (major) and penchant for occasional drives in remote areas and unexplored places, Mr. Kulkarni (the owner) suggested that i should go for Yoko Earth-1 instead of Michelin. I must say i am very happy with the choice. I have driven to very remote areas and in bad roads too (sometimes 50-90 km continuously) without a single puncture or getting stuck and that too with Amaze's under powered petrol engine. unfortunately i don't have any images of those roads. There is a significant increase in mileage (earlier it used to be 12-15 kmpl and now it is 15-19kmpl, respectively, in city and highways). The tyre noise is minimum (if you keep to recommended tyre pressure) although a bit more than Michelin but it is rugged and definitely going to last more. The breaking and wet driving is comparable to any good brand (never had any issues during monsoon drives to village roads) but yes on cemented sections Michelin is much quieter than Yoko. During my recent visit to Hampi, took my car over rocks although for a small distance in order to reach the hotel. High speed stability is amazing, no vibrations up to 100-115 kmph. After 18000 km (nearly 10000 in city and 5000-6000 km in highway and about 3000 km off roads) still thread depth is almost as good as new (have a look at the images uploaded, first three are for the new ones and remaining after 18000 km). All in all i would recommend these tyres if you drive majorly in city with occasional road trips. It ticks all the required features (some better some less but overall package is good).

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I switched to Earth-1 from Michelin P3ST a week back. Just completed a 2700 km road trip and I'm happy to share that when comparing my experience of new Yokos to new Michelins (based on memory), the Yokos perform admirably in terms of grip (both braking and cornering) and sidewall strength. The only downside is slightly higher noise and marginally harsher ride. Overall, I'm very satisfied with these and would recommend them to anyone wanting an all-rounder tyre!

Do these tyres mention "Side Facing Outwards"?

No they don't. My car (2006 Swift ) is running on these Earth 1 tyres and I'm loving them so far.

I’m currently running Firestone Destination LE2 tires on a Jeep Compass. Is the Yokohama Earth1 an upgrade for certain aspects? The local tires place suggested to stick with the LE2.

Check Arun Josie's Jeep Compass ownership thread. He switched to Earth-1s after 50k on the Destination LE2, and he has only good things to say about the Yokos

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Got some new rubber for my Ford Ecosport after the OEM Good year.

Even in the initial drive, I could feel more confident over the good year.

I got a first week manufactured tyre of 2022 in Gwalior and it was a good deal. Each tyre costed me 6700/- for size 205/60 R16 with load and speed rating 92V.

Will update about my upcoming 700Kms trip including concrete expressways and poor village roads.

Michelin 4ST are the best and would always recommend them. But if you are a driver driving everyday on rough roads and dont have irritation with road noises then go for Yoko.

If you are to cover majorly high speeds highway runs then for sure 4STs, though expensive but truly you get what you pay for. All the best

Exactly, I was shocked to see tire pressure of Earth 190/65 R14 on my Honda city almost same as 3 months back, would have lost atleast 5 psi for any other tires.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Hi all,
I had replaced by 4 tyres of 2017 Next-gen Verna with Yokohama Earth-1 195/55 R16 in August, 2021. While I have experienced better handling and ride quality, the fuel efficiency has been hit. Has anyone else experienced this? I would be grateful if someone can help me with this.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

After doing a lot of search and also consulting with Bhpian SHANKSTA finally bought the Yoko Earth1 for my Innova 205/65/R15 from BM Lal and it costed me each 6500 all inclusive with Alignment. The outgoing B290’s did their job well for the last 5 years clocking 48k kms with barely 2-3 punctures. The front tyres were worn out and it greatly effected the steering performance being way too tight.
The yoko’s have made world of a difference to the steering feel and my ride back home was enjoyed with a great feedback from the steering.
Planning a 1000kms trip this week to a hill station and will update soon on the yokos.
