It's around 6K per tyre. The other options were Continental CPC2, XM2 and Turanza AR-20 in 205/65-15.

XM2 was way too common and I was keen on trying something new. CPC2 is now old in the market so wasn't keen on trying these. Surprisingly, the Turanza AR-20 looked very similar to the Earth-1. The tread pattern was shockingly similar. But wanted something other than Bridgestone this time around.

OT: Is that grille from the Diesel Altis?
Yes it is. I got it changed as I just could not stand the 2 chrome strip smiling grill of the petrol.

That is awesome VFM! The 195/60 R15 XM2 costs around the same.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Its much more sensible than spending money in buying a new tyre for spare when you have a spare with life in it. When I upgraded tyres on my WagonR, one of my friend gave me his old adrive with ample thread left in it which I'm using as spare now though it is a 165/65 and the once I upgraded to are 175/60, so it will only be used in emergencies.

Initial impressions are very good. Moved from OE size of 195/65-15 to 205/65-15. This has caused the ride quality to improve dramatically. Ofcourse the old Bridgestones were 47K kms and 5 years old so the ride/handling had pretty much gone for a toss.

195/65-15 OE Turanza on the left and the 205/65-15 Earth 1 on the right. The turanza seen here is the spare and had almost full life in it so changed only 4 tyres. No sense in throwing a good tyre away. The spare will only be used in emergencies now.
Keep us updated on how the tyres perform after the run in.

Yokos are very good VFM. I bought the 175/60 A539s for 3.6k a piece whilst the 165/65 XM2 were for 3.7k a piece.

Yup they will be different dia. But this is like having a space saver. Some space savers have the same dia but narrow width but some of them have difference in dia also.

This car doesn't see highways at all so incase of a freak puncture resulting in full air loss the spare will be used for a few kms till the puncture shop.

Would you know if Earth-1 is available in 195/55R15 or 205/50/R15?
And, could you please share how much it cost you for your tires?

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

^^ recently helped a friend change shoes of his Chevy Beat's from stock Apollo's to Earth 1's (175/65/14). The ride has become quite smooth and have observed reduction in the noise levels too. Would surely recommend

Got Yoko Earth1s for my Innova. Seems to have improved the overall ride quality & lower road noise. Much better than the stock Bridgestone B390s.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Got a set of 4 Yoko Earth's for Indica Vista spec 185/65/R14 @ 4300 apiece. The option in Bridgestone - ER60, which is also supposed to be discontinued soon was retailing at 5250! Will post impressions in a few days. Bit strange that size 185 was retailing at 100/- less than size 175.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I got 4 Yoko Earth-1 185/65/R14 tyres for Rs. 4400 per tyre. I have driven only 50 kms until now on the new tyres, initial impressions are good. However, the side walls are not as soft as the A-drives that I had in my Swift, hence the cushioning effect on going over the speed breaker is a little less. Overall satisfied!

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Planning to change my Palio's XM1+ tyres (done 42k kms & 6 years), enjoyed the ride comfort it offers.
Wanted to continue with XM2, but it is quite pricey now, wanted to check other brands & Yoko Earth 1 is one of the options.

Bhpians using Earth 1, please share your feedback on the comfort factor & ride quality it offers?
