Just installed the Earth 1s on my Honda Amaze petrol. Upsized to 185/65/14 haven't driven much but ride seems to be much better than the stock Goodyears. The real test will be in a few days on the highway.

Paid 4.5k per Tyre. Total bill came upto 18k

I am planning to buy Yokohama Earth-1 195/60 R15 for my 2017 Honda City.

I am getting it for Rs.4158 per tyre (Rs.4620 - 10% HDFC Discount) on Amazon.

I am confused between these and Yokohama Bluearth (costing almost Rs.1000 more per tyre). But I don't mind getting Earth-1 because roads in surrounding areas are quite bad with stones all around (damaged sidewall of one Good Year Assurance tyre recently). So, with slightly stiffer sidewalls, Earth-1 is not a bad choice but I will have to compromise on noise and comfort.

Is it a good decision to buy Earth-1?

It is a good price. I can't say much about the Blu Earth, but the Earth One is a great purchase.

Has anyone had issues sourcing Earth 1 or XM2 lately? It seems all dealers (spoke to about 8 of them) in Pune are out of stock for both.

I was out looking for 165/80 R14's barely 30 mins ago, Lonkar tyres on NIBM road had the Earth-1's for 3100 each.

Anyone has experience with online website tyremarket. They seem to be offering Yoko earth-1's 185/70 R14 for around 4107/- a piece. They have also confirmed that the tyres will be 2019 manufactured.

The price is good provided it is inclusive of fitment, wheel alignment and balancing. I got Yoko Earth1 185/70 R14 from a nearby shop for Rs 4350/tyre few months back.

Price includes only free shipping. Mine being a small city, I will have to get them fitted, balanced and aligned.

Finally after 4 years, I got rid of 5 junk JK Vectras, which were OEM fitted on our Celerio. The tyres had become rock hard and I felt every stone on the road while coming from Nashik this week.

At Kalyan West, Wheel Care offered me 3200/- price for 5 Yokohama Earth-1 165/70/R14. This thread helped me immensely in making the final decision. Although Wheel Care are preferred dealers of BridgeStone, they suggested me to go for Yokohama due to low running. Bridgestone quote was 3300/- per tyre.

Fitted all 5 Yokohamas yesterday. Final bill came 16,000 (Tyres) + 500 (Valves) + 300 (for wheel alignment) = 16,800. And yes, I paid using debit card only so it was not a cash deal. Wheel Care has all the necessary machinery to remove and fit tyres and the crew is well trained. All tyres have 3919 (year 2019 week 39) written over them so I got the fresh stock.

Instantly felt the difference while coming back home. The Yokohamas took potholes and speed breakers with relative ease. Handling improved and fuel efficiency too around 15-20% over old JK Vectra.

After 4 years of using Pirelli P1 Cinturato on my 2010 Honda City V A/T, I have got it new shoes from Yokohama. I was a bit confused between Yokohama Earth 1, Blue Earth, Michelin XM2 and Pirelli P6 (as far as I remember). But I opted for Yokohama Earth 1 (195/60/R15) after reviewing the Kunji (team-bhp) of automobiles. I got these for Rs5400 per tyre, including Triton valves, alignment, nitrogen, wheel balancing with weights. Not sure how was the deal, but still looking forward for expert advice.

I followed this thread as I'm soon going to replace the Apollo 3G stock tires on my Grand i10 which are 165/65 r14. They are~6 years old and have done 38k kms so far and one has a fairly large sidewall bubble (now the designated spare) while another looses pressure over a couple of weeks, though there isn't any detectable puncture.


I'm debating between Yoko Earth-1 @ ₹4250 each with 5 year warranty but no Unconditional guarantee, and Apollo Amazer 4G Life @ ~3500 after discounts with 5 year warranty and 2 year unconditional guarantee.


My usage is going to be 80% in the city and 20% Highway and I'm looking for the best compromise between long life, good grip/performance/noise/comfort and price, in the order.


My gut feeling is to go with the Yoko Earth 1 despite the price but the price and unconditional warranty of the Apollo 4G life are also looking attractive


Any thoughts or suggestions between the two options here ?

I went with my gut feeling and got the Yoko Earth 1s, but I took the surprisingly cheaper option of 165/70 R14 @₹3100 per tyre which is 1.2k cheaper than the stock 165/65 R14. Got it from Manu Pitstop Koramangala today and it was a very good experience - fully done with the right tools and equipment, no jugaad whatsoever - right from the pneumatic nut fastener to the machine that removes and fixes the tyre to the alloy. I am a believer of the right tools being the as important as the talent of the staff . Extras I paid was only for weights for wheel balancing and 4 x Valves as the ones in the tyres were close to 6 years old. I would happily recommend these guys based on my experience so far. Furthermore I got 2 tyres from Oct'19 and 2 from the week of 16th Dec'19 - 10 days old tyres !!!

Coming to the tyres themselves, there's slightly increased ground clearance now and a 2.9% sidewall profile increase and an equivalent speedometer error however my speedo had a few kmph of error to the other side so it should help offset the error.

Driving it right out of the shop, I didn't feel a night and day difference but definitely much lesser noise (my old tires are age hardened so much that any new tyre would be quieter ). Placebo effect aside, the bigger bumps and undulations now seem to be smoother to ride on while the minor bumps seemed just about the same. The steering characteristics seemed changed reasonably, I feel it a bit lighter at slow speeds but most importantly it seems to dart around more eagerly upon steering inputs than with the old tyres - this isn't necessarily a good thing but will reserve my judgement for later after more measured and scientific observations after a few hundred kms.

Have been running 195/55R16 Earth1s for about 25k kms on my Verna. Absolutely zero complaints so far.

However had a sidewall tear yesterday after hitting a pothole very badly and hence was forced to replace one of them.

To my surprise the dealer ( Padmavathy Tyres in Chennai) said these Earth 1s are now out of production and asked me to go for BluEarth in the same size

As it was a bit urgent I couldnt shop around and went for the same.

2 Questions

1) Are Earth1s no longer in production at least in the 195/55 R16 size

2) I am now running 2 25k km run Earth1s at the rear, 1 0km run ( what i had bought as spare 18months back) Earth1 and the new Blu Earth at the front. Is this going to to cause issues? Or is it better to use the new BluEarth as a spare?
