Re: Tyre Noise - Less noisy tires?

Hey everybody . I'm new to team bhp and this is my first post so feel free to let me know if this is not the correct way of approaching a thread . This site rules by the way . But most of you know that already .
Concrete and Cement exhibit low values of absorption co-efficient for a varied range of frequency (upto 1600 Hz) as per Impedance Tube experimentation . Moreover the residual void percentage on asphalt road surface is apt for minimizing tyre noise caused by Helmholtz resonance ( cavity based ) .
Hope this helps .

Re: Tyre Noise - Less noisy tires?

I'm looking for a new set of tyres for the i20. Size spec is 195/55/R16

My only criteria: noise-free

This is my shortlist:

1. Continental MC5
2. Pirelli P7 (leaning towards this one)
3. Yoko A1
Michelin & Falken (out of my budget)

Looking for your suggestions. As long as it's noise-free, I'm willing to compromise on everything else. Thanks.

Re: Tyre Noise - Less noisy tires?

Conti MC5 and UC6 are known for their low noise and are Made in India so service and replacement would be easy as against others in the list which i believe are exported.

If your only criteria is noise-free, then only Michelin. Pirelli is second choice

You can also consider the new Yokohama Bluearth GT too. Supposed to be a silent tire.

Re: Tyre Noise - Less noisy tires?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went with the Continental mc5 due to ease of availability and manufacturing date (Oct 20). It truly is noise free with low rolling resistance. Looking forward to more miles.
