That is right but there are very few performance tyres sold in India due to the high cost & also because most cars here have too small tyres to be available in those ranges. BTW do you know that the GSD3 also wears out quite fast? GTO was not happy with their wear rate on his C220.

Also how much is the road noise on the GSD3? I ran a set of GSD2's & the road noise was terrible on them, infact most users of that tyre had complaints about the noise generated.

@Iraghava,
Road Noise is reduced a lot as compared to my stock 165/80 R13 Tires. Yep I do know So I'm not expecting more than 35K on my tires so for have done 1700+Kms on this new tires no noticable wear so far. Will update on the same when I'll complete 10K on my tires. Yep GSD2's make a lot of noise so the dealer suggested me 2 tyres GSD3's and NCT5's of the same profile. My Pal has the same mags as mine on my Baleno on his OHC VTEC and NCT5's they are also good. Let me know if you need more information.
Road Noise is really high on bad roads, on Ring roads and Highways it's not an issue My Lady Runs really smooth.
Thanks,

Slapped on 195/60 R14 Eagle F1 GSD2's over the weekend on my VXi. Replaced the stock 185/65 R14 Eagle NCT5's.

Stock tyres had run 12K kms - 2 of them needed replacing due to tears. Decided on switching to 195s, instead of getting 2 replacement 185s.

Initial observations .. most of them expected, some not

Expected
# Grip has improved a lot, feels more planted. The floaty feel at 120kmph has reduced a lot.
# Potential cornering speeds have increased
# Steering feels slightly more heavier at low speeds
# Braking feels much more surefooted and possibly more effective
# Looks a lot better

Unexpected
# Dealer mentioned GSD3's are not available on 14" tyres. They start from 15". Even the brochure said so. Is this true ? If not, have been taken for a ride, if true .. then it's sad.
# I've used the NCT5's from pressure ranging between 25 - 32. Am running 30psi all around for the F1's. Contrary to all expectations, the ride has IMPROVED significantly - at all speeds !
# Contrary to reports from other users, the noise too is a lot lesser than the NCT5's. Wonder how much more silent GSD3's are.
# Got almost 50% exchange price for the 12K run NCT5's !!! i.e. 50% of the new NCT5 price.

OT - @1100D - thanks a lot.

@Shuvc,
Yep your dealer was right, GSD3's are available 15"+ Size only in "India", Price difference between GSD2 and GSD3 is huge cause GSD2 is a V rated and GSD3 is a W rated tire. By the way did you check out the new Excellence? they have some carbon fiber composit layer for puncture resistance.

195/60 R14 GSD2 was quoted at 3700
195/55 R15 GSD3 was quoted at 4400

Speed rating for V is 240kmph and for W it's 270 kmph. Both are practically useless on a Baleno

Nope didn't check out the excellence. Don't like the tread design

Time to change to mags !!

Folks,
my car(baleno) is pretty close to the 15k mark and am planning to change the stock rims to alloys. Tyres that am running on is Appolo Accelere 205/60/R13 and am planning to retain these because its run only about 5k and havent had any kinda handling issues as yet. (This is just my opinion.)

My queries are

1 - Do I need to buy a set of 5 or just 4 should do. This is because, when I changed the alloys of my old car (Alto) I purchased a set of 5.
Till date not a single problem and the spare alloy hasnt been used at all.
Would it be ideal if I did just buy 4 and install the same on my car and retain one of the stock rims for emergency?.

2 - Touch wood, just in case I have a blown tyre after I install the alloys, is it ok to be running the car with 3 alloys and 1 stock rim?.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Well they did give me a bill for the GSD2's and also said warranty is not an issue. They'll replace for any sort of manufacturing defects.

4 should do fine.
Running 3 alloys & 1 stock long term could have some demerits since their weights are different .. am guessing here, but brief runs should not be a problem.

RJStyles,
1. If you buy 5 Alloys you can have your tyres rotated when you service your car.
2. When you are replacing your tyres you can buy a set of 5 instead of 4, In case if you are willing to change your profile later.
Thanks,

@mega,
Is your spare also a F1 ? How have you set it up ?
Mine's been setup for a RHS wheel. Now in case of a LHS puncture, the spare will need to be fitted with the treads pointing the wrong way. Does this affect driveability, tyre wear, etc a lot ??

Obviously the spare will be used briefly till the puncture is repaired.

If directional tyre is fitted wrong way, the vehicle would pull to one side. Something which you will have to bear with till you get your punctured repaired and the tyre fitted in the right direction.
