Not too many - and none too widely available. Perhaps you may appreciate the reasons to go slightly oversize , so that one's assured of a product with excellent grip.

Sheel, as suggested by many on this thread, I would suggest you to go for Pirellis. My cousin's XUV is nearing a tyre change as well and I looked around for options. As Anshuman says, there are very limited options available in this size and Scorpion ATRs are one of the best available. I also intend to go for these in our XUV.

If I had to upsize, would have gone for Cross.

- I have had one puncture till date, and that was mainly due to me getting sloppy with checking tire pressures timely. I think this is par for the course.
- The tires seem to be holding up well, with no appreciable tread wear.
How are the sidewalls for occasional divider jumping or going near river beds with rocks?

And losing grip under acceleration in a Scorpio? Did you fit a 'box or is it stock?

Yup Ace, I appear to zero in on the Pirelli.

Good for 'frequent' - 2-3 times a week.
No problem on river beds either. Have done quite a few now.

LOL!!! I always wanted the Scorpio to have the engine tune of the XUV.

How is Anshu's XUV holding up with these tires under hard acceleration?

I more often ride the torque wave. But sometimes do push, especially in U turns or when in mood. Lets see...

I, on the other hand, would have said, that the engine output of the Gurkha would be more suitable for the handling and control of this vehicle.

".A" is the most sedate driver I know of; always sticking to traffic rules and speed limits. Dunno if he would ever face such issues.

Sheel

If you want to make your own road - PIRELLI SCORPION

The shops at Siliguri are quoting prices between 11 & 12K. Haven't even checked online

That is the latest price from a local tire shop.
Not following online prices.

11-12 k is par for the course for the Pirellis, depending on the age of the stock. I wouldn't think much about it at this price tag.

And having the 4WD does tempt one to ride over the odd obstruction ...rather than choosing to wait it out on tarmac... does it not?

Yes, those are too.

One does not need good shoes - oh no. One needs great shoes.

I still say, for on the road usage, the stock Duelers are more than sufficient. They haven't given me any reason to not doubt them on the highways.

But when you start looking for some adventure, trail, it just kicks you off from the 50th floor.

Yes, just like the Airmax I use.

Few friends are trying to help me source & trying to find a buyer, lets see where this ends at. But for everyone looking for an AT in this size, we appear to have come to a conclusion.

For sure. And there lies the point. For those who have predominantly other uses for the vehicle the OEM tyres on the Scorpio are s***.
Personally, I much prefer the Innova for situations where one has to only drive on NH2/AH1 or its brethren. I go for the best cruiser in my stable - just like you use Airmax for running.

In any case for high speed long distance plains driving, I much prefer the more comfortable and the very dependable Milemuncher Innova. R3 fills a different need for me.
...I am lucky to have the flexibility to choose between the two very iconic steeds depending on my specific use-case.

Re: All-Terrain Tyres for the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio?

Check at the ply rating for maxis, and that will determine how hard the ride would be and how durable the sidewall is. For mixed us Pirelli, Michelin and Conti is fine.
