Hi Vulken,

How is the car riding on the 18" alloys. Any fouling? If so what did you do to overcome it.

Thanks

Finally some tyre store found open and visited Goodyear dealer yesterday. The dealer said he will arrange Silentrac in 215/65/16 in a day or two max. Just got a call from the dealer to again confirm if I have checked this size . He said as per his calculations, it may or may not be proper for Crysta and he wanted surity from me that I will be going ahead with the same size, only then he would get it billed from company. Have given him go ahead and told him that I have checked with experts

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Finally got my Crysta her second change of rubber with Goodyear Wrangler Silentrac AT 215/65/16. Approximately 7700 per tyre. These are manufactured in 16th week of 2021 and arrived at the dealer yerterday only. Have not driven much today but initial feel is good. Few pics attached.

Hi, I am planning for buy a new Diesel AT, having read about the braking issues, juddering, tyre burst, can anyone let me know if these issues still exist in 2021 model.

Thanks

Re: Tyre change dilemma!

Hello everyone,

Our 2.5 year old crysta have done 60k kilometres on the stock bridgestone tyres (215/55/R17). No complaints with the performance of tyres so far, fortunately no sidewall cuts/punctures either. Looking to change the tyres now, local michelin dealer has stock of both 215/55/R17 & 225/55/R17. Price for Rs 215/55 quoted is Rs 11500 & for 225/55 is Rs 12,500 approximately over phone.

My only priority is ride comfort. So I would like to know if 225/55 will be a better choice when compared to 215/55 keeping ride quality in mind ??. Would like to hear from members especially who are using 225/55

Since ride comfort is a priority, definitely 225/55 will be better than 215/55 due to a bigger sidewall.

Re: Tyre change dilemma!

I would recommend going for 225/55/17 keeping in mind the comfort factor. Also the chances of a blowout is lower.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I need to change the tyres in my 2016 2.8Z variant and looking for one of the following option

a) Upgrade the tire to 225 55 R17 but looks to be expensive option,
b) Upgrade the tire to 215 60 R17
c) Continue with same size i.e. 215 55 R17

Would like to hear from members what is the best option given safety and comfort more priority.

Dear SGK
Since i own the same model as you do, I would strongly recommend you to go with the stock size as mines are 205 65 R16
I think they did use to give the R17's but my model is 2017 and it got equipped with 16's
I'm very much comfortable with the ride with that size, laden & unladen both.
Have been using 16's for more than 100000kms (you may go for the 17's dear no offence at all but hope my opinion counts)

Thanks

Dear Feelthebass,

Thank you for the comments and definitely no offence, I wish my vehicle came with 16 inch which would been easier for me to choose and would have been lighter on my pocket as well , but since it came with 17 inch, I am looking to retain the same size. So I am looking for suggestions in 17 inch.

Also IMHO 17 inch looks nice with crysta than 16 inch (no offence)

Dear SGK,
I totally respect that you love 17ers more than the 16s
I also forgot that you would be buying new set of 16s if you ever go ahead with my suggestion.
If 17s is the case then go ahead with the stock size only.
Thanks

I’ve experienced both 17 inch and 16 inch on my Innova crysta. Problem I faced for going one size big ( read width ) was un even wear especially inner side of tire. I have to get tires rotated and aligned very frequently. Currently I’m running on 216/60 R16 and after 3000kms I’ll be going for 205/65 R 16

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I have been using 215/65 R16 Primacy SUV on my Crysta GX 2.8 AT and it's been a great experience so far. Very comfortable ride and they have held up well for almost 53k KMs. Now it's time to change them. I have been enquiring at multiple places, but these tyres are not available in stock anymore. Available options are:

205/65 R16 4ST

215/60 R16 4ST

215/65 R16 LTX Force SUV (Not available in stock and even if its available, they are quoted at higher prices, almost 4k higher when compared to 205/65)

I don't want to consider anything above 215 width, the other options being 225 and 235. I am not comfortable choosing 215/60 R16 as it reduces the sidewall height, which I am apprehensive about given my earlier tyre burst experience with the stock bridgestone tyres. That leaves me with the stock size of 205/65 R16 in 4ST. How good are these? I read elsewhere a comment from Sankar in this thread, that the 4ST compounds are little softer.

Not in favour of looking at other brands, as I have been using only Michelins for almost 12 years now on my cars.

Kindly suggest if the stock size is good enough or should I wait for the 215/65 R16 size to be available?

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Quick question for those who have upgraded to 225/55/17

What tyre pressure are you maintaining? I just got mine upgraded yesterday and was using 33psi on the 215/55/17's

Should it be the same / lower / higher?
