Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Could anyone help me with which Tyre to upgrade to for my Creta currently shod with stock 205/65/16? Something reasonably priced and an all rounder will be ideal since the car will be used by the elderly in the family.

The instant difference in ride quality & braking was evident. The car has done around 8500 kms & I see no reason to complain.

As for the 17" alloys. The best upgrade in my opinion is 225/60/17 or 235/55/17

Check out the Yokos as well (if you like those) they are specifically made for SUV's - hence the name.
Hope that helps

Hey Ricky,

As per your upgrade in the same Rim size, the difference in circumference comes around 2.3% & is NOT recommended by "tyrestore".

Also I'd like to showcase the tyre size alternative as provided by the calculations from TiresizeCalculator

The alternatives that it provides against the OE 205/65/16 are as under:
Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread-capture1.jpg

Having said that & also read that you had no issues clocking 8.5k Kms until Aug'17, I want to know how have you fared since then.

Also, I'd like to know in detail - since your tyre upsizing isn't in the recommended brackets, What should we consider while upsizing?

Is the 2% recommendation doesn't practically hold up & we can push beyond that?

How did you arrive at your 235/60/16 Calculation?

I'd be very glad to have your insights & inputs

The car just crossed 14000 kms with absolutely ZERO issues. I agree the tyre is a tad oversize, by .3% - the tyre I am using is an SUV tyre & not a sedan tyre.

Having said that I would have loved to change my alloys to a slightly wider width but then chose to stick with the OE one.

I did not face any problems till date. Hope that helps

Cheers

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Upgraded my Creta's tyres to the Accelera PHI 235/55/17 since within a week of taking delivery!

She's run about 20k till date without any issues whatsoever.

The stance has improved and so has the braking by a bit. The Acceleras are a bit noisy though but for the price, they're a good fit at least for city use.

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

What is the specification to be followed for alloys for a creta 1.6 petrol base model having 16 inch tires, I intend to stick on to the OE tire and only swap the rims for a set of alloys.
Will a deep dish alloy fit on OE tires?

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

17 inch Michelin tyres now available for the Creta. Expensive but last much longer while providing much better comfort and reliability.

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Anybody here using Michelin on the Creta? I will need to change in the coming months and have shortlisted this. Even though my tyre guy recommended Michelin, he suggested BS since it's more apt for my driving condition (potholes in the city, less highway driving). My current set should last 42k-43k kms.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I will be installing these exact 17 inch Michelin tires on my new Creta diesel auto very shortly and will trade the supplied tires in exchange. I’ll be sure to report back!

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Michelin Primacy installed. Total incremental cost was Rs. 5500 per tyre (X5) after we traded in our Bridgestone OE supplied rubber.

Initial impressions are that the ride quality is noticeably softer. I wouldn't say it is a drastic difference but it is noticeable.

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

They are 215/60 R17 Michelin replacements -they retail for Rs. 10K - got 4.5K for the supplied Bridgestones. No images (yet).

Our initial question was simply - is it worth it? After a quick first drive, the answer is a resounding yes.

My car drives on the same wheels (215/60 R17, Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport). Have done 41,000 kms so far and the tyres are 11 months old. Here's how they look after 39,000 kms:

Expecting these tyres to survive for another 15,000 kms after which I'm looking to change to Michelin's on the OE tyre profile.

Thank you for this mini review. Instils confidence as I'm looking for the same tyre as a replacement on my Creta 1.6 SX(O). Do update as you click miles on the Michelin.

Re: Hyundai Creta: Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My 2016 Creta SX+ AT CRDI 215/60/R17 Goodyear tyres need a change. 47Kms covered in 2 years , they have been a few punctures over the years.
My Spare tyre have never been used as had a TPMS system and a Windek Tyre infiltrator so was always topped up.

Looking online see the BS, Michelin's are around 10K, I did find Ceat GRIPP_LN 215/60 R 17 Tubeless 96 H Car Tyre for just under 5K from https://www.tyremarket.com

Any views on CEAT ?

Just one word - avoid. Ditto for JK.

Look at offerings from Bridgestone, Continental, Michelin, Apollo. And even MRF (gasp!) . These are not in order of preference. For me Michelin is king. Check the Primacy 3 ST or Latitude Sport.
